needing interchange info
I am new to this site but when I saw it I knew I needed in.I love old cars and trucks and when I had the opportunity to buy a 64 Jetstar 88 I took it. Problem is, I've never had an Olds and don't know much about them. Problem #2 is that the old girl has a frozen right front hub. I'm not sure if the brake is locked up or the hub spun a bearing. Considering a worst case scenario I was looking for more available interchange options should I need the spindle/hub. Any help out there would be appreciated. Thanks.
One likely problem is a swollen inner hose layer, which allowed brake fluid to be pushed through under pressure, but won't let it return - unscrewing the hose from the cylinder, or cutting the hose, may solve the problem.

I agree with Eric. It can also be the adjuster or something came loose and is wedged in there. Normally if its a bearing the hub doesn't freeze in place, it's just very loose because the bearings turn to powder.

Master cylinder is empty. Have'nt had a chance to try to back off the adjuster yet (I still don't have it home yet) so that may be it. Previous owner has the wheel off and spindle nut removed and nothing budges. I posted just in case to see if, needing spindle and hub, there was an interchange with any other cars. Thanks for the input and a hub frozen to the shoes is something I hope and pray is a possibility. Even at that I may have to find another hub. Easy, difficult. or impossible?
Welcome. The 1964 Jetstar 88 can be tough to get parts for, as it has some items that are unique to that particular year and model. The J88 was intended to be the lowest-cost full size Olds for 1964. It uses the engine, trans, brakes, and rear axle from the Cutlass line. Unfortunately, these aren't exact swaps. The front control arms and ball joints are common with those on all 1963-64 full size Oldsmobiles, but the spindles are unique to the J88. Nothing else interchanges, so if the spindles have been damaged by a bad wheel bearing, you will have a tough time getting a replacement. The good news is that the hubs, wheel bearings, brake shoes, and brake drums are the same as those used on the Cutlass line, so those are readily available. I'm pretty sure that the front brake backing plates are unique to the J88. Steering linkage parts should be common with those on other full size cars.
The rear axle uses the same differential, gears, and bearings as the Cutlass line, BUT the housing is unique to the J88 due to the different width. As a result, axle shafts are also unique to the J88, but brakes, drums, and backing plates are common with Cutlass.
The engine is the same 330 motor used in the Cutlass line, but due to the different mounting configuration as compared to the 394 used in the other full size cars, the frame is unique to the J88. The 330 also uses accessory brackets that are unique to the 64 J88. The automatic is the ST300 (Jetaway) two speed used in the Cutlass line, so the driveshaft is unique to the J88 also.
The rest of the car (sheet metal, interior) is pretty much the same as on other 1964 full size Oldsmobiles.

It's refreshing to find someone with that attitude. I see a lot of posts where the poster has an obscure, unpopular model and can't understand why the repro parts industry doesn't support it like a 69 Camaro. Good luck.
Well, I finally got the brake issue figured out-drum rusted to the shoes. I had to wreck the drum to get it off but I "Got 'er done."Hoping the drums O'Reilly lists really are a fit, otherwise ...
