Thumbs up My first Olds

My first car, given to me by my parents when I turned 16, was a 1953 Olds Delta 88 Royale. This was in 1961 and the car had been driven for several years by my mother. If my memory serves me, it was Meadow Mist Green with a white roof and two-tone green interior. It was a huge beast and was not considered "cool" by my friends. However, with its 303 cubic inch, 160 hp V-8 engine with 4 bbl and Hydra-Matic trans, it would leave all of those '55 Fords and '56 Chevys in its dust. It was well-known for "chirping" the tires at 45 mph just by hitting passing gear. I loved that car but, unfortunately, I had to leave it behind when I left for college and my father sold it. Maybe someday I can get it back.

My first was a 74 Delta 88 4door hardtop. Bought it off my father-in-law when I was 16. He didnt think it through very well, "let's see my 14 year old daughter has a 16 year old boy friend, the smartest thing I can do here is sell him my car with the worlds biggest back seat real cheap" $500! LOL! 2 months later she was pregnant! It all worked out though 18 years later the car is long gone but we are still together. I wish I still had the car but about 3 month after I got some drunk idots t-boned me at the rear tire pass side doing 65. Thier transmission popped up through the floor board in the back seat, the passengers hands had to be pried out of the dash, he squeezed so hard he busted through the dash pad and couldnt let go I had to pull his hands out. Total lost of his pontiac, I drove home in my Delta with a dented hubcap and quarter panel. My grandpa and his neighbor convince me the frame had to be bent so I sold it for $200.
