My 1980 Delta Holiday 88

Hello to all the great Olds fans out there.

I must admit I have been lurking around for some time. Finally some time away from work to do some fun stuff like post pics of my beloved Olds on the site. I inherited this car from my Uncle. He was the original owner and babied the car. It has about 60k on it but has been very well kept. It is the good old lacquer paint so it is spider cracking a bit. I have been considering a repaint but still on the fence. I would like to add better (9C1 police) shocks, front and rear sway bars and some chrome Olds SSIII style wheels to set it off.

If you check in the parts wanted section you can read my tale of horror regarding the LH grille on the car, so now I need one of those as well. Hopefully a NOS (or close) grille will show up. I hope you guys enjoy the pics and I look forward to learning more from the forum.

Cheers Martie

'80 Holiday...

Welcome to the board...

I really like your Delta! Yours is only the second '80 Holiday that I've every seen. I used to own a '78 Holiday and really liked it--I wish I had another...my son wrecked it for me several years back.

Welcome to the forum. Nice ride, I agree with you about adding the Olds rallye wheels. I just got a set for my 85 Delta 88 coupe. It will look a lot better than the hubcaps!

Very nice car. Gotta say I like the wheel covers though! Keep 'em!

Welcome!

I am slowly working at modifying/hot rodding/restoring a 78 Holiday 88 myself. It's my daily driver, and I'm having a blast..

If it helps any, I autocross mine as well. So the suspension is "stock" - well, it was stock on some B/C/D body... hehehehe

I do like the wheels. Do you have the window sticker or any factory paper work?

Your car is so uniquely ordered -- putting the SS wheels on it removes some of the car's character. Although the Holiday 88 package is a sport package, I don't think the '80 & newer coupes could ever look sporty with their formal roofline (especially with the vinyl top) but they sure do look classy and those color-coordinated wheelcovers accentuate the cars' elegance. I think your car is a knockout as-is, especially in black.

If it were my car I'd swap wheels solely to preserve those rare painted wheelcovers. Such a nice car you have there. If your car was a '78-'79 model, I'd put the SSIII wheels on it as they seem to "go" with that "sportier" bodystyle.

Speaking of which....fdwheelman, I used to own your Holiday. I think I have pics under my profile if you want to verify. I'm glad it's being appreciated by a fellow Oldsmophile -- the car has kind of a neat (well, neat to me anyway) history behind it.

Ahhhh... I finally meet the elusive "Joel"...

This is in fact your old ->78<- Holiday. It has come a VERY long way since you last saw it...

You'll be happy to know it proudly does daily duty for me!
