Let me introduce you to...
Rizzo (aka Betty)
My name is Jason, and I too suffer from "Vintage Tin Syndrome".
This is my 3rd project, but my first that didn't require bodywork. The previous 2 (1965 Mercury M-100 and 1955 Buick Special 4 door hardtop) I updated everything mechanical but realized that I don't have the patience for bodywork.
Plans for Rizzo are:
1 Disk brakes
2 Seat belts
3 Shave the front handles (rear ones already done)
4 bigger tires and rims
5 Replace the 'faker lakers' with 4 foot Patriot sheilded side pipes
6 Drive her like she was meant to be driven.
All my 'projects' I undertook with the intention of being a Daily driver. The first 2 were sold as I was offered $ too good to pass up. Not gobs of cash, but a $1 or more than I had into them.
I've been on respective sites for each project, both contributing and receiving loads of terrific info. Hopefully, a lot of that info will translate here and Rizzo and I will have a permanent home.
By the way, I should mention that Rizzo/Betty is my mistress. My wife is very accepting and supportive of my 'disabilty' and extra-mechanical affairs. I also have 4 boys who at times like to "help" with the wrenching.
Thanks for letting me introduce myself. I'll see you in the funny pages!

Thanks for the warm welcome. I hope to be up and running soon. Just waiting for my windsheild to arrive, then off to Red Deer for the OOP inspection. This used to be a US car, but was 'imported' @ 10 years ago.

Here I have to have a one time mechanical fitness inspection done to get the antique plates , is this sorta what the OOP is? Any ideas on what kinda wheels you are putting on and if you put on side pipes do you have plans on sitting up a little higher or you counting on the bigger wheels doing that. I like the style of her from the side view and think it will look pretty cool

The OOP here is a complete mechanical fitness inspection. Everything that was on it at the factory (and still attached) must work as it did when it rolled off the assembly line.
Right now, she is kinda in the weeds, which looks great, but it only has 14" tires on it and the stock suspension is shot. I am putting all new suspension and 225/70R15 on the front and 275/60R15 on the rear. I've attached a pic of the wheels. And I plan on gently sanding off the top surface of rubber on the side walls, just enough to expose the white rubber that lurks beneath. 3" whites with these wheels and Hopefully the skirt will still fit.
Hopefully, that will give me enough clearance for the side pipes
