Just set up My account
Hi,my name is Fred & I just set up My account this weekend after months of reading others
threads. March of this year a bought my third Oldsmobile, it's a 1971 Cutlass Supreme 2door coupe that came from the factory in Sienna bronze
with a black bench seat interior. She's a 350 4v th350 a/c p/s pds. She's in running condition, but needs body work, trunk flooring and PAINT.
I was looking for a 1970-1972 convertible Cutlass to build a street car, and in the process stumbled upon this one, locally I live in Ft.Myers, Florida. The reason I wanted a convertible is that growing up both my parents both had 1971 Cutlass convertibles. First my Mom found her Sienna convertible on the used car lot of the OLDSMOBILE dealers that she worked at back in 1974-75. Mom bought it and drove it to and from work. Dad would drive the Sienna Cutlass on the weekends and loved the way it drove. Well yeah it drove better than his at the time 1973 Pinto. This went on about a year then Dad started looking for His Cutlass Convertible. He wound up finding a 1971 Cutlass convertible in Rootbeer brown with a pearl interior . then "we" were a 2 Cutlass convertible family. I have had many fond memories in these Cutlass's
that I'll save for a latter date. i just want to say Hi...and tell you that I will be restoring a 71 Cutlass too... Sorry I don't have pictures yet, Ive gotta find out about the whole photobucket thing...

Welcome to the site! Yes, it takes signing up with Photobucket or Flickr to move pictures to before posting here. But those are free sites so when you have time to investigate them we'll be looking for pictures.
I spent a little time in the Tampa Bay area in high school and understand the salt air can be hard on a car. If you can't find good used panels I know at least some of them are being repop'ed. Enjoy your project and keep us updated on your progress!

I didn't think to ask... do you have any pictures of your parents cars you could post, once you get setup???

Welcome. We will give you about a week to get pictures posted. Seriously, everybody here loves pictures. Get them when you can. This is a great board with lots of knowledgeable folks who are glad to help. You folks had to be cool people. I bet there are some neat memories.

Welcome. I've been stopped by a few ex-patriot Americans down here for a chat about the Olds. (Pretty much the only people who know what it is). They've all been from Oldsmobile families where generations had owned them....lots of them. Must be in the blood.

Looking forward to following your build. Congrats on finding that great color combination. Having A/C is really nice. I find 71 parts around here once in awhile so I will definitely keep you posted.

I didn't like the Sienna color of my '71 SX Convertible when I first got it, but now it's kinda growing on me. I think the other brown for '71 was Sable. Anyway, welcome to the site! There's a lot of good advice to be had here and everyone's pretty well behaved for the most part.

Sport mirror location & Delta 88
Thanks Guys,
I was at the U-Pull-It yard this weekend: There weren't any Cutlass/442's. But I found a pair of sport mirrors off an 83 Monte Carlo SS
(drivers side remote) for $20.00. I bought them, brought them home sanded them down and primered them with rattle can self etching primer.
Does anybody know where I will have to drill the doors to install them?..
I have no referance points of where they should be (Factory Location),
could somebody Please help???.....
Also while at the Yard, I saw a 4 door Delta 88 Brown on brown I'm guessing 1979 ish. The body was straight, the interior was almost perfect,
but the drivers door window was smashed out, And the prior owner installed a small block Chevy. I hate that.
Anyhow, I don't know what's left or how long the 88 will be there, it's sad to see a good complete car from the past waiting for the scrapper.Sorry I didn't think to take a pix, If your in Florida and need Delta 88 parts the car is in FtMyers.
