You are aware that these services only have data on cars from the 1981 model year and newer that have 17 character VINs, right? You didn't specify the model year you were looking at.

He says "cluster is dead, so no odometer." This leads one to believe that the car has an electronic display for the odometer, which certainly makes it a post-1981 car.

Not owning any cars with digital dashboards, I took that to mean that the speedo wasn't working, but you are correct.
