Just bought a 1969 old 98. Help…

1969 olds 98 2 dr convertible.

i have questions:

-is there a 4 wheel brake disc kit or diy method (front disk at least)

-do all 455 rocket performance parts bolt on to the 1969 olds 98 455 rockets? Headers, distributer, intake, gaskets, etc

-where can I get weather stripping and suspension parts?

-is there a good website for parts and performance and maintenance?

-I want aftermarket wheels, What’s the bolt pattern and hub specs? do 16 to 18 inch wheels fit?

-any headers that fit without modifications to the steering box? Like short headers

Please help. I want to make this a nice cruiser. I want to at least make it drivable. Maybe some performance if available. And 4 wheel disk brakes.

Good websites, diy, kits, info, and more.

i know it’s not a “enthusiasts car” so not much aftermarket. Anything helps.

Buy this used paperback 1969 OEM GM Oldsmobile Chassis Service Manual (CSM). There may be others (used). Comes w/ color wiring diagram. It's the bible for your car.

Tell ya what. You buy one, scan it, and post it somewhere on line so others can get it for free.

Be certain to scan the wiring diagrams in high resolution color so when you post the CSM they’re crispy.

For seals: Steel Rubber

Due to the lack of proper aftermarket parts, repair your existing braking system. If you do not currently have factory front disc brakes, advertise and search for factory donor parts. Leave the rear brakes as drum. I would leave the entire system as drum.

Get an appropriate tune up of your existing system. Forget headers. It is a big heavy car. It will never be a rocket ship in the performance arena.

Your wheels are 5 on 5. I would leave those as they are to maximize the distance between the tread and the rim.

Try your local parts suppliers for Moog brand suspension parts. Steer away from overseas made kits. Try www.rockauto.com for an overview of parts. Look to www.rareparts.com for rare parts.
