Hey folks, just joined and I am looking forward to see what you all have done with your rides. My wife and I just purchased this beautiful Restomod 1964 F85 Cutlass. It has been setup for the track and even though I love the punch, we actually want to drive around North America in it. So, we are not crazy mechanically inclined but I do most basic maintenance on our 3 Harleys. This will be a journey whereby we put in some creature comforts like AC, EFI, power steering and a kick *** retro stereo! We’ve done lots of research and over the next year and a half we are thinking: Vintage Air, March Performance Serpentine Pulley system, Holley Sniper 2 with the PDM and Bluetooth module. Cooling might be an issue so, we were thinking dual electric brushless fans with shroud to go over the Be Cool Rad. Fans controlled by the Holley PDM. One thing we haven’t found was a suitable digital dash replacement that might look retro. Dakota Digital doesn’t seem to make a plug and play dash for our car. Perhaps one of you knows that solution? Also, the camshaft is very aggressive and we may want to detune that a bit. Again, your thoughts on that would be welcome. Check out the spec sheet and photos and let me know your thoughts. The gentlemen I bought it from has created a seriously attention to detail hotrod! Cheers
Unless that car doesn’t run well and has a lot of issues I wouldn’t start messing with the engine. Spending a couple thousand bucks on EFI and a serpentine belt system really won’t get you much. a properly tuned quick fuel carb will run for years and years without any maintenance.
A good stereo and a vintage air will definitely pay off.
