Intro to Site

Good afternoon all,

My name is Tim. I am living in Sacramento, CA. I am new to the site. I recently acquired the rights to a 1966 442 that has been in the family for 20 or so years. The car is making its way to California in the next month or so. Clean garage kept car, though not completely original. Currently has a 1970 455 with 4 bbl, TH400, and original 3.23 rear end. Other than that I do not know much about the original options. By what I have read the car was likely equipped with a Jetaway trans. It is great to have a site like this for support and knowledge as the restoration begins. I will post pics as soon as I get the car down here.

If there are any local clubs or swap meet anyone knows about I would be interested.

Looking forward to your pics. You have my favorite year of all the 4-4-2 models - for some reason, I just think the '66 is the best! Have fun!

Sorry for the link, I couldn't get the pictures to upload into the galleries. Not a bad project, a little soap and water will make a big difference. The plan for the near term is interior kit including rear deck and headliner, SS1 wheels with white letter tires, and a good cleaning.

Anyone know what these seats are out of ? Closest match I could find was 1969 Chevelle Seats.

Features:
-Locking button on the back center
-2 buttons on the front

Welcome to our site. If you want to get involved in a local club I'm sure there is a chapter of Olds Club of America (OCA) near you.

I have seen a few Strato buckets with factory headrests (A81 option) from 1966. Do you think the would fit the original 1966 seat covers?

I believe that the bucket seats from '66-72 are the same basic design, seat back levers are in different locations, but I believe that you could put '66 covers on these seats. I would call the mfg. (Legendary, PUI) and ask. The down side is you may not know for sure what these buckets are from.

If you could post a few pics of the headrests
you have, that would be perfect.

I don't know if you can tell in my sig. photo,
mine are wrong for the 66. I have 68-72 in mine.

66-67 are more triangular, to put in in a word.
I also haven't pulled a back off mine either.
The mounting inside the seat under the back
cover could and probably is different... The
68-72 had a push button release in the middle
back whereas, the 66 did not have one anywhere, and the 67
release is on the side.

Welcome to the site Tim. Car looks nice and solid, congrats!! Best of luck with it.

There's lots of helpful folks on this site, many with quite the parts stockpile. If you need a specific part, the "parts wanted" forum is a great tool.

The car is here. A couple interesting things about the car...

1) I got to take the 400 B Heads that came on the car originally (with what I presume is OEM paint still on the heads)
2) TH400 has some sort of switch pitch on it

I will starting posting pics soon.

Anyone know if those heads will work on my F block 455 (and is there any reason too)? Also, Anyone know what a AU tri-carb manifold would bring in excellent condition?

Nice manifold. Did you have
any of the carbs or linkage or
anything eles to go with it?

The B's will go well on a 455.
Big valves and are correct for the 66 442.

The manifold is by itself. There is a complete Pontiac setup with carbs and air cleaners, not sure if those are different.

Hi Timmy1966 442, we might have met before at swap meet. Arco Arena? maybe, I would have sold you mine. But as you see its not a 442 and no ac, the good part is you can always clone and the faster it goes the cooler you get. Feel free to drop me a few lines.

Are you trying to buy it or sell it?

I've seen Manifolds by themselves w/ block off plates go for anything between $800-$2000 FWIW...

THere was a local guy here that had 5 of them in his shop & he was asking $1800 for a bare manifold. Too rich for my blood.

Olds Club

Sounds like fun. I am guessing it could be a "Talking about old olds club" depending on what I have torn apart but I would be interested.
