Intro from another newbie

I am Jeff, an I have an Oldsmobile problem (OK so it is not a problem but I figured I would try to be funny)

I am in the process of purchasing a 1965 Jetstar 88 Convertible from a friend. He has had it for several years and has redone the interior repainted the outside, the engine had already been replaced prior to him getting it, so keeping it original was not an option so he swapped out the engine and put in a olds 455 and a ford 9" rear end. he replaced the top. and it is now waiting for me to take it over and continue to spiff it up.

I can't wait to get it into my garage and start tinkering with it.

I am looking to for opinions, It still has the stock AM radio and single speaker in the dash. Should I leave it or replace it with a nicer newer model? I will probably put the speakers in the trunk to keep the interior clean. any comments / Suggestions are welcome.

Thanks

Jeff

Post some pic when ya get a chance.

Hum? On the radio, it's kinda up to you. There are many options for hiding the newer stuff.

No it is not really towing the trailer I parked it there to make it look like it is. however I think it would be fun to go camping with it.

Cool car Jeff. Creative picture too and I agree that being able to go camping with it would be really nice. Welcome to CO.

Welcome

Just piping in to say hello and welcome to CO. You will find this site helpfull to you as there are a ton of guys here that have lots of great advice. As far as your radio goes it's really up to you as to change it or not. if you do then it would be better to not cut holes in the car for speakers. there are places you can put them without doing that. The radio I would keep in case you want to resell the car (not that you will once you get hooked on the Olds). I have the original working radio and rear speaker that both work but there was also an 8-track mounted below the dash and buddy cut holes in the rear panels for speakers

Welcome to CO

Nice looking project Jeff. What year is the 455? Is it stock or warmed over. Tell us more about the car and your plans for it

I am not sure on the year of the 455 engine, In talking to my friend he has indicated that the current engine in it is only rated @ 200hp. He does have in his garage another 455 that is rated near 400HP that I plan on purchasing and installing into the car but for now I plan to drive it is it is.

As far as more about the car I am going to be buying it from my friend who when he got it (12-15 yrs ago) he had it re-painted and installed the current engine and ford 9" rear end. he also had the interior re done and it is basically ready to license and take to the car shows as it is. It wont' be my daily driver but it will get driven weekly during the good weather. I wanted to have it in my posession and take it to my HS reunion this weekend but that hasn't worked out yet as there is not currently room in the garage for it.

Time to update..
The engine in the car is a 1975 Vintage and it runs on pump gas, The engine i hope to install into it is from a 1968, so it will need a complete rebuild and update to run on current pump gas.

After much schedule checking and more checking we are slated to move the car into my garage over the weekend... yes I hope to get some pictures of it as it is moved.
I will also wash it up and get some pics posted as well shortly.
