I remember when Oldsmobiles weren't old.....

Hello – I have been a gearhead since I was old enough to make engine noises in the sandbox. I have owned everything from a 1970 Toyota Corona coupe to a supercharged 96 T-Bird pumping out ~ 550hp. I love cars, especially cool and different ones.

I’ve been lurking in the shadows for quite some time in anticipation of buying a Cutlass. It has finally happened! Found the right car @ the right price in my area and jumped on it. It’s my second Cutlass, my first one I owned back in the late 80’s while in the Navy. It was a 73 S with buckets and a console. It also had a 442 hood and trim pieces courtesy of the previous owner. I truly had been looking for another 73, but when I ran across this 74 I fell in love and was able to quickly forget the small differences between the two years.

This car is a 74 S in stock form and excellent condition. It may be cliché, but the pictures do not do this car justice. It has 90k miles and the original smooth running 350-4bbl, TH350, 10 bolt rear with what I am assuming are 2.41 or 2.56 gears. It is a cream color with black vinyl top, black interior and a bench seat/column shift combo. It has AC and a stock AM/FM stereo. As you can see below in the pictures, it came with 2 sets of wheels and tires. I love the way the Torque Thrust D’s look on it and will probably run them instead of the stock rallies. As for mods? I’ll probably put on a nice dual exhaust and bucket seats with a console along with some other minor things like cruise control. Other than that, I’ll keep it stock for now. I wouldn’t rule out a possible 442 clone in the future though.

The smaller pics are from the Craigslist add where I found it and the large ones I took when I got it home today. It had just started to rain, I only snapped a couple so I could get it in out of the weather. I’ll get more next weekend.

I could go on but I would say that’s about enough blathering from me for 1 day…

Eric

That's a fantastic looking Cutlass. I'm liking the cream color with those wheels too. It looks like you found quite a gem. I find the '73 - '77's seem under appreciated especially considering how wonderful they drive and the modern amenities you get like the power accessories and air conditioning.

I hope you get to drive the wheels off her especially since Spring has finally arrived here in the mid-Atlantic.

Welcome to CO, and back into the Oldsmobile fold!!! Love the Torque Thrust wheels, the whole look of the car. Wish I had a set of the TT's on our '92 Custom Cruiser. Once again, welcome!!!

At the current rate, I figure the last bits of snow in the shadows won't be gone until early June. And that's in southern Maine, where it's warm, y'all.

Very nice car.

While you certainly should frequent this site as much as possible, you might also check out the '73 to '77 Oldsmobile forum.

http://www.73-77olds.com/

That site doesn't get anywhere near the traffic that this site does, but it is dedicated to the era of Oldsmobile Cutlasses of which your car is a part. If you ever need parts or anything like that, those guys usually know where to get them as this era is not supported in the aftermarket the way the '64 to '72 Cutasses are.

I have already joined. I have quickly found out what your saying about lack of aftermarket support for these years....
