Your description of car is vague. But basic no crank situation, with no lights, which lights instument or head? Sounds like possible bad ground or cable or a shorted battery? Get a know good battery and clean and tighten battery connections on both ends of +/- terminals. If it were mine I would take a remote start switch and try again, this eliminates everything but battery, starter and cables.

yes, start with checking the battery cables make sure they are connected properly and tight start at the battery itself and then if those are tight, follow the wires to wherever they connect and make sure everything is connected and tight. my olds had the same problem all of a sudden it didnt want to start, my dad's a mechanic so he came over and found one of the cables to have a loose connection that caused it to not start, tightened it up and it fired right up.

Especially the ground from the negative cable to the core support, and the two from the cowl to the valve covers!
These are often overlooked, and wouldn't be there if not needed!
