I need help!

Hi everyone, a new member here. I am trying to restore a 1956 Oldsmobile Holiday Coupe for my father, whose first vehicle he ever purchased was a 1956 Oldsmobile Holiday Coupe. I'm just looking for knowledgeable and experienced restorers of Olds vehicles for some guidance, especially with searching for parts for it. That has been a difficult and grueling task relegating me mostly to EBAY and Fusick. Any advice is greatly appreciated and I'm looking to learn. Thanks everyone.

www.antiqueolds.org has an advisor program, though not sure what their policy is on non-member questions. Membership is worth the cost though as is the Oldsmobile Club of America www.oldsclub.com .

www.aaca.org also has a lot of folks versed in 50s cars if you can't find answers here first. There's a 56 crew on here- think hialeah56 is their "official unofficial" leader.

Feel your pain...this vintage is tough, but stuff is out there - Kanter is a good source for mechanical stuff too. Best is to ask questions and seek advice on a case-by-case basis. People here try to help as best they can - you should post some photos and maybe a 'starter list' of things you're looking for.

Best of luck -

Thanks guys I appreciate it. However, I must say fellas I am a Chevy fan as well and own several Chevrolet classics, but I love all GM vehicles as my dad was a hard working blue collar worker who worked on the assembly line at the GM plant in Van Nuys, CA for 30 years. I am really looking forward to restoring the 56 though because it is such a beautiful vehicle, I understand fully why my dad chose the 56 Olds as his first vehicle. Cheers to OLDs power and cheers to GM.
