I have a 1969 442. Is there anyway I can tell what interior colors by either the body cast number or the car's vin number? I am having trouble matching the seats, headliner and carpet. I see on sites gold, mustard gold. I am getting samples and its hard with the faded material.
Any insights on how to read the numbers to colors would be great.
Under the hood, in front of the windshield, driver side , there is supposed to be a body plate with the code for your paint and interior colours and the type of seat you have, bench or bucket. Also the time of the year it was built. And sometimes options.
Would there be a digit to tell me what colors for the interiors? I know the paint color. Etc..I am trying to match my colors for new interior. Getting so many mixed signals
Yes post the info from your fisher firewall tag and we will help. Or go to autocolorlibrary dot com and look up 69 Olds. Heres the link. Look at page 2 and compare to the Fisher tag. That tag will also have the type and color of interior and exterior colors as well as some optional items.
Would there be a digit to tell me what colors for the interiors?
The only thing that will tell you the color of the interior is this number next to "TR" on the cowl tag. There is nothing in the VIN that indicates anything about color, and the paint codes on the right side of the cowl tag only give exterior colors. In the example below, which is for a '68 Cutlass 2-door hardtop, the 940 code indicates black strato bucket seats.

The 940 trim on this cowl tag translates to a Black themed interior. The specifics of the trim and interior paint colors can be found in the 1968 Cutlass Assembly Manual
