I just picked up a '68 Cutlass restomod that's really nice and this seems to be the place to share it once I look through here and find the right spot.
The Universe has a sense of humor apparently. We had nice weather until I brought it home and it snowed over night. Not unheard of but it figures. Pics will have to wait but I'm anxious to get into it, never had an Olds before and I'm not entirely sure people here will think I do More on that later.
Yeah, the thing's an absolute blast to drive. I only drove it home about 28 miles. Reminds me of my '69 Chevelle SS396 quite a bit. True, that RamJet doesn't have the onions that big block did but that old Chevy could not turn or stop or anything, you could get it going as fast as you want as quick as you want but then the line between active participant and spectator got a little blurry. This thing is absolutely planted to the road and is the tightest, most solid A-body I've ever driven. And hell yes, that 5-speed is the cherry on top.
I'll start a thread, I do have some thoughts and questions but right now I'm just taking a break. I got the thing home and was expecting rain and instead got a freak unexpected snowstorm. I had some plastic and one of those Horrible Fright 10 by 10 pop up tents over it that has seen many rain storms but with snow it just collapsed on top of the Olds. Fortunately no harm done and the car's bone dry. I've had other hobby cars sitting in that exact spot but hadn't set out to find anything shiny like this, initially I was looking for a beater project. I had my epiphany and can't leave this one out there.
I have a raised ranch with a two car garage underneath so ipso facto that thing has to go inside. Somehow. The Town is a royal p.i.t.a and building a new garage is not optional. One side of the garage has been the home to my '69 L-46 'vette for almost ten years. Convertible, side pipes, 4-speed.It's a driver but that's not sitting out there either. So, this morning I have been emptying 30 years of work space and trying to find room for it all. I'll have the Olds in there this afternoon and the benefit is that I can now go down there in my jammies and fuss with it and like the 'vette nobody can even tell it's there. Safe & secure.
Trying to decide if it needs a battery disconnect to be inside. Normally I'd say yes automatically and I don't think that RamJet ECU will care but I'll have to look into it.
Very nice!! I've had my 87 for 8 years....hard to believe it has been that long. I also have a 73 Omega we bought new not long we ago married. Can't wait to go cruising.
A '73 Omega. I had completely forgotten about those. Basically Chevy Novas with Olds powertrain, right ? I had a friend with some sort of huge convertible that had a Rocket 350 and thing really moved !
In fact one day I was out doing stupid kid **** with my friend I used a telephone pole to turn my '74 into a '73. Partial frame, just went to the junkyard.
