Hi from Omaha, newbie 71 S
I've been trolling for a while now, but think it's time to introduce myself. I purchased my 1971 Cutlass S about a year ago, reliving memories of my first car purchased when i was 15. The car itself is a very solid, original, rust free body purported by the previous owner to have come from Arizona. It wears all of its' original rust-free panels and an OK paintjob. With a solid body I've been busy fixing the little things to make it a good driver since I bought it.
So far, i've replaced the locked up original fan clutch that would really roar at speed, rebuilt the front suspension and steering with all new Moog parts, replaced the front wheel bearings, gone through the brakes front and rear, new u joints, new carpet and fatmat in the interior, new tunes with speakers hidden below a new package tray, and am currently in the middle of a 2004-r trans swap waiting on my stage 1 from extreme automatics to arrive. In the meantime, i've cleaned up the 8.5 10 bolt rear and am getting ready to pull it apart and install a Yukon Duragrip and 3.73 gears.
I'm not going for a restored car, but have been putting the wire wheel on my grinder to good work as I pull things apart cleaning and painting as I go. Once I find out how to post pics I'll try to show some of my progress. All in all, this site and ROP have been a great help, and I wanted to finally say hi.

Still working on figuring how to post pics to a post directly, but created a quick photobook album with a couple pics from when I pulled the car inside this fall. A lot has been done since these pics. I moved the tach from the A pillar to where the clock used to be, and have replaced the steering wheel, new carpet, and drove 4 hours away to buy an original blue ash tray door for $10 from a guy that wouldn't ship it, of course I found mine in the back of the dash behind the glovebox a month later... d'oh!

Looks like a fun project. You're doing it the right way, one job at a time. Don't take any shortcuts to hurry the project along. You'll be much happier if you do it right the first time. Keep sending pictures, we love 'em.

Thanks for the encouraging comments. I personally like the color combo a lot. The plan is to have a nice cruiser when all is said and done. The rear bushings will need attention at some point so maybe a mid summer project will be to get boxed arms and new sway bars (I currently only have front). After that its cruising time for at least a year. By that time all suspension will be fresh and ready for the road. Engine replacement will come but the stock 350 still runs so smooth I hate to part with it..
