Hi Tedd, thanks for the good thoughts, as the local trans guys weren't either capable or willing, I am taking the valve bodies (automatic) apart for cleaning and inspection and doing most of the things I can do without removal. Just had it out two blocks in the summer(without plates) trans was fine! won't upshift out of first..... reverse works fine.
from what I gather front coupling isn't filling. I adjusted tv linkage to specs in shop manual. maybe you can suggest , something Oh and fluid isn't burnt smelling. Don't work too hard, I just retired.

Olds5798, You might try posting this problem on the transmission or vintage forum, many of the guys don't venture to this site on a regular basis.

Your problem does sound like a stuck valve issue but I'm going to pass this on to the transmission guys who know so I'm not leading you a stray with my ignorance.... Tedd

Well Tedd you have been a BIG help so far and probably know more than I do about the Jetaway, and thanks where telling me where to post the issue, Your car is sweet and so are the pictures. I had a friend with a coupe when I was 16 and know that car also got guts. I'll let you know what happens, it kind of makes me sick to my stomach.

Olds5798, thanks for the compliment on my car.

I know a little about a Jetaway and a little more about a dual coupling hydro, the transmission my car has but there are guys here that rebuild these things all the time. Like I said earlier try another sub forum and some one will get you through this....Lost in the 50's Tedd

Thanks Tedd, your the best! I just heard back from That guy Dave at Auto Tran who uses a friend at Lee Myles to rebuilt for him and he said that he believes that the check ball and spring were 56 only. My book is Copyright 1956. 2 bucks. Remember that worthless info now don't forget. You might win the Million Dollar Question. Ha Ha.

Hi capp, thanks for the welcome and the pictures. Ill swap you 57s? Love both your cars and with that 455 ill beth they scream. Have you ever ran either one in the 1/4 mi. Just wondering what kind of time that would turn. I know my 57 is extremely light, especially cause both bumpers are off and back seat out. However I still am surprised because I always thought the car looked heavy and my friend when we were teens had one that we used to take our girls out drinking over Staten Island. He was always trying to blow it up and couldn't. It was a 4dr 88 and if he didn;'t nail that thing everytime he started rolling something was wrong.....Bulletproof. Love your cars and need to see more of the 47...... Thanks Don

Yea, looks prettier than my collection of old parts. no one took longer to attempt getting a car back on the road than me. I bought a parts car and salvaged it from the wrecker, but if this trans isn't fixed soon Ill have to drive the wrecker
