Hi from the 51st State.
Hi guys,
Roger from England saying hello.
I don't have a classic Olds, it's an '87 Delta 88 Royale brougham, however my girlfriend & I enjoy driving it to shows in England, next year we are planning to take it to a show in Belgium.
I'll post some pics when I work out how to!.

Welcome.
51st state??
First time I heard about that? I guess we can fit another star on the flag.
If you can't beat em' join 'em and then take all the cash you can get.
Benny Hill would of liked that, maybe he did say it?
"Do unto others then run" is my favorite Benny Hill quote.
Do you have to convert your cars and drive on the right/correct side of the road now? Knowing the way the governmant works we'll all have to convert our cars and drive on the wrong side of the road, it would create jobs!

51st state explanation.
Hi Bluevista,
There was a Samuel L Jackson movie of that name released around 2000 I think.
I believe the term was first used during WW2 when the UK was "the unsinkable carrier" for the USA to supply and launch the invasion of Europe on D Day.
Left hand drive vehicles are fine over here, I live not far from Dover, a very busy cross channel port where thousands of trucks from all over Europe arrive to deliver their loads to UK destinations.
In Australia until recently left hand drive was not allowed, I was there on '08 and remember reading of someone who had cut up the dash of a mint 61 Chrysler 300 to convert it to RHD - this after the laws were changed!.
Over here we have a required roadwothiness test for all vehicles over 3 years old (the MOT test), something like state inspection I believe. I don't know about other states but certainly in Texas the pass standard is much lower than over here.

I reckon anywhere that makes the world's only Rattlesnake anti-venom, shows Two & a Half Men re-runs around the clock, houses a number of US military instalations and has an American for a State Premier has got the 51st position sewn up.
And what do you mean we can drive LHD cars down here. I've just cut the crap out of my Olds Must have missed the small print.
We've been able to drive LHD for a while as long as the car is over 30 years old. That's caused another problem. People bringing in Hot Rods supposedly '32 Fords etc have struck a snag. Half these things were built a couple of years ago so they're not over 30 years old. So now we can't import anything that has been modified since 1989 And that includes fairly minor mods like sticking a BB in a SB car and any customising. Car has to be pretty much original / restored and that suits me
Welcome to C.O with the Ashes series delicately poised (thats a Commonwealth thing guys...no need for concern)

51st state claim.
You can get round the clock US tv over here as well - often a good reason to go play with my car!.
The chairman of the campaign for the Preservation of Rural England is Iowan born Bill Bryson, Winston Churshill was half American.
Still plenty of US military bases here, although not as many as there were, the main source of American cars used to be from military bases, Camaros, Firebirds, Mustangs & Mopar muscle tended to be the most readily available.
The Ashes are looking good for the Poms as I write this.
I'm not up to date on Aussie laws regarding cars, as I understood when I was in WA lhd was ok there. Other states may vary like in the USA. But cutting up a 48 year old classic Chrysler 300 struck me as vandalism.
Thats just my viewpoint, I have learned not to judge other cultures and lifestyles simply by comparing them with mine.
