Hey Classic Olds! Cali calling...

Hey y'all! My name is Ces. I'm a life long Olds fan. I'm currently working on my latest obsession, a 1972 Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme convertible.
I've been studying up on things here a bit the last few months.
Most times I google something about Oldsmobile, useful info pops up from this site. Seemed like a good time to join the BB.

I've had two 1972 Cutlass Supremes. I just got my most recent one a few months ago. She's a pretty original and unmolested example built in Lansing. She's a bit rare as a convertible with factory AC, console shift and bucket seats. She has some pretty good factory options like 4BBL, dual exhaust, PS, PB, Power top and a few things I'm probably forgetting.
She's in her original color, baroque gold and has a very high quality re-paint on her. The paint job was done in 2002 but looks fresh and way above average quality. Basically no orange peel. Hard to believe!
She's got a code correct new black vinyl top and a dark brown interior.
Paint matched Rally II wheels riding on BFG GTQ raised white letter tires...

I'm from the SF Bay Area and consumed with muscle cars.
It's a pleasure to meet you good people!

Here's a pic from the day I got her. The damage in the rear has since been repaired. It took welding, grinding, body and paint. Long story but my guy had it done in two days...

Yes the body tag code for the paint references baroque gold when I researched it.
Many sources all came up with the same answer. Then at the paint shop, baroque gold looked like a dark bronze on their paint code card.
Very different from my paint.

There is a ton of different info on baroque gold. Not all of it matches. But almost all of it comes back matching this color and under that name. This is for 1972 Oldsmobile reference.

I should add that I'm no expert and very well might be mistaken. Colors are hard to nail down on computers and phones. Maybe not for some people but..
I'm here to learn and would love to be sure about it!

Here's the body tag. PNT code 57. Last I checked that was baroque gold for 72. With a terrible memory, I may be wrong.

I think we have enough Bay Area guys (or girls) here that we could organize a little get together.
That would be something, an all Olds meet. Even if it's 5 cars it would be very unusual for our area.

Thanks you guys. Very cool... And,
yes that's a great idea! Probably worth positing a new thread about SF Bay Area olds owners meet up. Obviously people would be welcome to come from anywhere...
Some sunny day in some epic location. Preferably with high foot traffic. To add to the interest. Let's get that going. Sounds awesome!

exactly!
I did find a very deep GM paint code website that showed my color as code 57 for 72. then i saw a few cards like the one you posted. totally different color.
Baroque Gold seems to be something of a mystery from where I'm sitting!
I guess thats part of the fun in the hunt in figuring these cars out...

thanks again
