Hey all ...

I'm from Central Cal. I have a 83 Hurst olds that's been in the family since it was new. This vehicle was special ordered by my folks and I had input at that time also. The odometer reading is below 38,000 miles and the overall condition is very good ...been garaged since 85.

I have been an automotive tech for many years.

Well I attempted to post a few pics. but I was not allowed..... maybe at a later date

Welcome to CO. Yeah, you need around 5 posts to get posting priv I believe.

re:83 HO. They were not offered as special order cars; your dealer probably had to make a special application to get it because there weren't enough cars for all Olds dealers to have one. That's about the extent of what 'special ordering' on this car amounted to. You would ask the dealer if he could get one with the options you listed. But the cars would already have been built. Some high profile dealers would get better numbers to sell, but a vast number of Olds dealers got shut out of getting one.

83 was the 15th anniversary of the HO and was a very limited production run. You got the car as it left the Hurst plant. Whatever it had prior to arriving there were the primary options on the car. The rest of the paint/trim/trans/lightning rod shifters/emblems were not optional. There were only 3001 83 HO's produced, so I'd hang onto it.

In general I think it would be safe to conclude that more than 70% of these cars have gone to the great wrecker in the sky....

Allan you are correct and thanks for pointing that out.... we gave the option list with the options we chose to the dealer and we recieved the car that way .... no power windows, no T-tops and with grey interior.

This was a very low number build and yes it will be around for awhile.

Welcome. I remember when the 83's came out. Those lightning rod shifters were great. A friend of mines father worked for GM in Detroit and had one as a company vehicle. My buddy drove it to school every day. Nice, nice car. Can't wait to see the pics.

Nice album. Nice to go to shows with a hot machine like that. You planning to fix that little bit of rash on the RF air dam?

Ted, I think you NEED a car from every model year or you just won't feel right.....Lessee now, yer missing 61, 62, 63, 64, 65, 66, 68, 69, 71, 73, 74......... Lord knows you'll build the space to keep them. I might have to move down there to curate your collection

Welcome to CO from another central cal guy. Very nice ride. I have always had a big soft spot for early 80s Olds, Buicks, Chevys.
