I've been lurking for a few months and figured it was about time to say Hello.
I've been doing a lot of reading, digging, and research here and the site is great in my opinion in so far as what I've seen with the knowledge base, the people, and the help available. And that is AWESOME! So thanks and great job!
The last I was on or around an Oldsmobile forum was around 2005? and it (ROP) was- well, I'm just going to leave that alone.
So I'm new here, and have been away from Olds for a long time- but Olds is not new to me, and I've had quite a few in the late 80's and all through the 90's. The last one I had I sold up in Ohio just prior to a divorce, i think around '08. It was a '67 and a basketcase. My very first car was a 1968 442 W30 I bought in 1986 with paper route money, lol. That was my love. Used to race that (Street/Strip) all around NE Ohio through the 90's. Dragway 42, Quaker City, and Norwalk. I met Joe Mondello (and he actually helped us in the pits at Norwalk one year! AWESOME guy, RIP), met Linda Vaughn several times, and even met Doc Watson. I remember the awesome show that the 100th anniversary was up in Lansing in '97.
So I've been away from the Olds family for quite some time- But I'm very happy to be getting back into it! I really never thought it would happen. It was always one of those 'dreams' that Id have another- but honestly didn't think it could come true. In Aug/Sept I bought a 1968 442 4-sp Convertible. It is what I would call a fairly solid, mostly original, well taken care of, survivor. Not been restored, and definitely not perfect, but she presents well and I plan on continuing to improve her. 72,000m
I'm also really looking forward to meeting other Olds people here abouts in North Texas, and car shows! Seems like there are a good number of other Olds people around here! So, I wanted to say Hi to everyone!-Rob

Very nice! The 68’s are one of my favorite. Don’t like the pin stripe though, takes away from the peak molding. If it’s tape and it was mine I would be pulling it off. Lol
NTOC meets the second Sunday every month. We usually meet at Sonny Brayn's BBQ on Campbell Road in Richardson. This Sunday we are meeting at 12:00 due to a conflict. We would be glad to have you. You don't have to bring your car if the weather is nasty. Here is a link to our website:
Thank you all! for the compliments and for the warm welcome!
Glenn and Eric, yes, I've been looking at the NTOC website & info... and when I come to a Sunday meeting in the next few months I won't have Topless Goldie with me for a few months at least- as hard as I tried to not tear things apart... I did, some.
I figured out firsthand what that acronym MAW means! What started as 'Fix the leaky top rams & hoses' ... has turned into, MAW order Legendary rear seat vinyl and rear vinyl inner panels... then, MAW replace the carpet- MAW include a dynamat type product.....
When I pulled the carpet (looks like it was replaced in the 90's)... I found a 'small' area of rust through in the floor pan under the heater core in the passenger footwell... So, now Im going to cut that out and mig in a proper patch. Ive already drove up to Golden Star in Lewisville and bought the panels I need.
And here we go again- be a good time to do the heater core... and I pulled the dash as well. To fix / improve, refresh.... In a way, I love all this, in another way Im mad at myself! LOL.
Beautiful '75 H/O Glenn, I had a '75 442 way back around '95. And a friend up in Ohio had a '73 H/O back then. Actually, one more thing on that- a distant relative up there, that was also a 'nam vet was the original purchaser of a 1969 H\O. (as well as a '79 H\O) (thanks for your service!) He had the plaque from Hurst for the 69 and god rest his soul RIP- but he was one of the major influences for my young & growing affinity for Oldsmobile when I was young pup in the early 80's. He was a Real Olds 'nut', lol! The 'F' heads I used racing back in the 90's came from him...as did the XS Toro I bought from him.... (rusted to hell when I had it in the 90's, and long since gone) Ive always wondered where his '69 got to- hope someone still has it or is loving it. He sold it in the mid 90's in Akron Ohio- it kills me now, knowing I could have bought it at a price I will not post here... ! but, wow, it wasnt that much.
Gary, that Vista is Awesome!! Actually - everyone! Damn, yall have a lot of Nice Oldsmobiles here!! I Love it!
'Bfg', I wasnt a fan of that pin stripe either and considered removing it at first... but, isnt that the "GT stripe" Y74? I think I remember? I dont know, lol, Ive forgotten so much from my old olds days in the 90's.... And learned SO Much here in the past few months! that I never knew back then!
Adam, thanks for digging & looking for that console part, I hope you find it! And yes, im going to post a 'wanted' ad or searching for note, If you dont find the one you had... But with all the other stuff apart and being worked on, Im keeping busy. Well, that and work.
Thanks again everyone! I dont post a whole lot, but I hope I can add something helpful in the future.
