Hello, I'm new here I got my dream car a 57 olds 88

Hello, I am Kc, I just joined recently and have gotten my dream car this year, I may need help occasionally for sourcing parts and such, I have a 1957 olds 88 2 door coupe, and a couple other weird cars, I have attached the bit of work and the pictures of when I got it too.

Yep, it's pretty rust free except the floors and trunk, the original carpet must have kept water in like a sponge. At least we were able to get it to turn over and run for a bit before we painted the engine
I do have a short video of it running if anyone wants to see:

Congrats. The motor sounds really good. You can make a really nice car out of this one. I would get rid of those ugly wheels at some point. They just don't go with the car. Of course that is just my opinion and if you like them then you should keep them.

oh yeah, your right, I'd like to get a set of rocket racing wheels injector style with the cast finish. As I feel they would look good on it, the wheels on it are just rollers that came with the car

Nice color combination. Most wheels and tires will look good except those "rubber bands stretched over stagecoach wheels". It will be nice to see the progress.

57 Oldsmobiles were the best looking 57 anything. I love them. Great starting point. Cool to hear that you are on board to give that car love. I love the colors.

Family had a 57 88 white with red stripe. One thing I have never got over is the rear window. Such a look has never been seen again. Good luck with the rebuild.

Holy Continental Kit Batman. If you don't mind me asking. How long is that car front to back? Super cool car by the way. Is there a link to the story on your car?

With the kit the car is about 17.5 to 18 feet. The extension makes it a foot longer

We should get a few more running and then flood the highways with '57s.

Hi, I'm hoping you can help me. I am in Oregon and I'm restoring a pair of vent windows for a customer with the same 57 Olds. He sent them to me after another restoration company had them and now that they are ready to be reassembled, there seems to be some parts missing or it's just that I don't know how the main rubber frame attaches to the heave cast chrome piece. If you would be willing to send some detailed pics of the vent window, it would be greatly appreciated. This is the last piece of the puzzle I need to solve in order to finish this job and send them back to my customer. Thanks for your consideration! jerry

Slight update heads and cam are off and out

Heads and cam are out and have been sent to get hardened seats and a regrind maybe, here's some update pictures we took the engine out too and are gonna freshen it up a little eg. rings and bearings, also we started making some panels for new floors. It's a project right now, but sometimes that's the most fun you can have

Some of the bits frome the engine for clean up

anybody know some good places to get more parts for my engine/transmission just in case?

I can see what I can do, I am also in OR, but the car is currently up in WA at my dad's home so we can do more in depth work and welding on it as my place doesn't have the garage for it., there's a chance I got a couple spare vent assemblies with parts I got with the car, they aren't perfect but they are together and out of the doors

Not sure if these help but it appears to be attached with rivets
