Welcome. It sounds like you need a 350 or 403 in your Cutlass. Of course you could go to a 455 and get lots more power. You will find lots of knowledgable folks here who are glad to help. Send us some pictures of you car after you get your five post. Just FYI, the five post requirement is to prevent spam. Believe me, it has worked.

Hey Myles,

Welcome! 87 Cutlass Supreme was my first Olds as well (back in 2003 or so). I never did anything extreme to it, just kept her running. It was a great comfy ride.

These guys have all the answers...at least to all the questions I've asked so far. You're in good company.

Russ

Welcome to the board! I really would like to get a Cutlass. They actually move pretty good with the 307...my Toro is about 500 pounds heavier and needs a little umph but moves good once she gets going.

Well hello all! I am currently driving and enjoying my cutlass supreme, but now I have a few ideas I wanted to throw across the board. I'm going to start with a rocket swap maybe from an olds 98 I'm not quite sure of where to look lol also plan on tossing the 200 no od trans for a 200r trans with matching gear selector. So far I'm looking to attain about 300 or so horsepower and 350 ft lbs of torque through headers, full exhaust(want true duals) mild cam, intake and crank. Looking for some rims right now and I want to go 18 iinch chrome Iroc replicas, they'll be a little heavy but I want a little show and go! Maybe amp up the sound system with a tasteful in dash dvd player, new highs and mids. New suspension with ball joints, air shocks and revamped braking system. Add new paint and she should be good! I have been searching the site like crazy and have seen some of your guys rides and man they are beautiful and I'm really hoping to learn as much as I can about my new platform and my new forum home! thanks all for the warm welcome.

Welcome, Big Cutt!
It sounds like a 350 SBO swap with a beefed up 200R4 is in your agenda!
A 350 can be made to work with the existing computer controls, if your locality requires them. It will look stock, too! The 200R4 will bolt right up (with a rear crossmember move or change)...

Check out this link:
http://tlentz.oldsgmail.com/more_power.html
It will help convince you that the 350 is the more economical way to get more go-power!

as soon as my 5 post rule is up i'll toss up some pics! i'm really excited about doing a rocket swap and i belive it will benefit the car in many ways. 307 is a good driving motor but feels like it has no take off and i know that it all plays a role in acceleration so i'll start with motor and trans and work my way up. now where would i begin looking for a rocket, i'm not too keen on a scrapyard but i may have no choice, if anyone could point me in the right place to snag a rebuilt rocket no smog i'd be ok! thanks
