Hello. I am Michael...A Newbie

This is my 1st venture into the Oldsmobile family. I have previously been a air-cooled VW guy. I saw a 1967 Cutlass Convertible on line, fell in love, sold my VW and bought it. It needs some work, but I am always up for a challenge. I probably over paid, but I think my heart got in the way. I will apologize now for the many questions I will be sure to ask. I look forward to restoring the Cutlass, now all I need to do is get some non metric tools........

Nice car. Is that Crystal Blue and is that the original color. More pictures and details would be fun. Congratulations.

Very nice looking Cutlass convertible. I wouldn't worry about the cost. There's nothing like a summer evening cruise with the top down.

Welcome to the group... Nice looking ride... You might be able to use 10, 13 & 14 mm tools in a pinch until you acquire some English tools...

Help For A Newbie....

The car I purchased a 1967 Cutlass base convertible is in need of a new (used) steering wheel. Mine is basically a wreck. I contacted Koch's ...But at this time I just do not have the $$$$$$$$$$$$$ to restore it, I eventually will. But I would like to find at least a serviceable wheel. I do not want to purchase a aftermarket wheel, as I want to keep this stock as possible. Any Help? Ideas? Or am I posting in the wrong place? Thanks in advance.

Michael

I really like the 66 and 67 Cutlasses. It looks like you have a nice one. Try posting for the steering wheel in the parts wanted section. Welcome

Hey welcome to the site, beautiful car, i love 67's almost done with mine.
Im repairing my steering wheel, it had numerous cracks im filling with PROPOXY 20. i think its basically the same as JB Weld 2 part putty that you knead together to mix then fill in the cracks with it. I have already done this and have it mostly sanded then i will prime and paint it. It should come looking good. Ill use epoxy primer, PPG paint, and clear coat.
So if yours is only cracked, you might want to try this or i think Eastwood has a kit to do the same.
Good luck and more pics please.
Steve

Steering Wheel 1967 Cutlass

Thanks for the info & reply. I may try that. But I eventually want to have it restored by a professional shop, It's not only cracked on the wheel itself, but the arms/spokes are separated as well......Thanks Again,

Michael

Sweet looking 67 Cutlass. 1967 was my senior trip to southeast Asia for a couple of years, (kept extending). folks told me I was crazy in high school so I guess I proved them right. I have a 67 Delmont that I've been working on gradually. have the same problem with my steering wheel, but there are other things I want to get done first. You have come to the right site to get help on your cutlass.

Thanks for the kind words regarding the Cutlass. The pictures actually make it look better than it is..It definitely needs some work, but This will be a labor of love. I'm looking to make it a nice driver, not a show car. I contacted a friend at Koch's Steering Wheels here in So. Calif. He can completely recast the wheel, I will eventually have it done, but as you said there are other things 1st.Good Luck on your Delmont!
