Hello to everyone from newbie in Flint
Hi everyone, did a little searching and came across your forum. The wife and I just acquired a 1966 Oldsmobile 4 door Holiday Deluxe with 19K original miles. It is a great car but had a little miss when we got her. Decided to do the typical cap, rotor, plugs and wires. Got in there to change them and everything was still original! Delco Remey cap, rotor, coil, Packard wires and Green Striped AC plugs. I felt terrible removing them but once the tune up was done she sprang to life and idled beautifully. It has the 2bl 330 with the jetaway trans. Interior of the car and under the hood are in excellent shape - only problem being mold in the headliner from window leaks. Car was ziebarted from the dealership and frankly for a car that has lived its entire life in Michigan it is in awesome shape. The only rust we have is under the front and rear windshield trim of which we are in the process of patching up.
So enough about the car a little about us,
My name is Bryan and my wife is Steph. I currently work for a dictation and transcription software company as a technical engineer/ programmer. Steph is a graduate nurse who will hopefully be a RN on May 1st, when she passes the board exams. We have two children both girls ages 3 and 5. (Hence the reason for the 4 door hardtop, but I have a personal liking to the 4 dr anyways - you don;t see many of them).
The ride:
Look in the members gallery for 1966 F85 - it'll be the white one

Welcome to our site Bryan & Steph!! This is the best place to be to learn all about Oldsmobiles!! Sounds like you have a good one, there. Isn't it cool to have the original stuff? I just love these old cars!
Jamesbo - We are definitely going to hang on to the original parts.
cutlassgal - Yes it is cool to have the original parts - it makes you feel good when you can see that the original parts have lasted 44 years.
If she was going to be just a car cruise/show car I probably would of just done enough to get her to stop missing, but being as though Steph wants to use her as her sunny day driver with the kids - I felt replacing the mandatory items in a tune up were best.
Anyways - debating right now on if I should have some one try and remove the rear glass or just leave it be. Can't seem to find a replacement rear window for it, if it breaks when it comes out, but then again if I don't fix the underlying metal it will just rear it's ugly head again. - Decisions - Decisions

Welcome to CO
Great find Bryan, I like the four door hardtops. Have a auto glass company remove the rear window that way it won't get broken. Fix the rust with new metal, its worth the trouble. Good luck
Hey, Bryan!
WELCOME TO A GREAT GROUP!
These are a great gang of guys and gals that really have all of the expertise to help you and Steph have a great experience with your new ride!
I got my 65 Jetstar from the original owner. It has 56M miles and is all original, except for belts, hoses, tires, brakes, and other maintenance stuff.
I had a 98 LS IN 1966. It was a great road car, I think because it had rear leaf springs rather than the coil springs that Cadillac and Buick Roadmaster of those days.
I'm 79 years young and have always loved the Oldsmobile marque.
Welcome again and the best of "Oldsmobiling!"

Here's the link to the Oldsmobile Homecoming, Saturday, June 19th:

It's a nice show. Your F85 would be a nice addition.
