Smile Hello forum colleagues

Not new to the forum, but first time to intriduce myself. I'm from Norway, so please forgive my misspellings.

I'm a dedicated fan of vintage cars and motorcycles, and classic US cars in perticular. I have a nice -73 Mustang Grande, a -71 Cutlass convertible and a 1978 Kawasaki KZ1000 motorcycle. I allso have some european Ford Granada's on the "waiting room" for restoration

I got the Grande in -99 as a rolling shell, freshly painted and ready to assemble. That was to become a long story, wich tought me quite much about pussling a car together, if not to talk about pushrod technology engines, with all the camshaft problems I had with the 460" in it.

I still have the Mustang, but since I got the Cutlass home from Pensylvania in 2009, I have been mostly dedicated to this car. It came with the original 350 and a 4 speed shifter on the floor. I have been informed that this car was delivered with a 3-speed manual, and that it was one of only 23 or so convertibles delivered with this in -71 (?)

With the car I got a TH700 trans and a freshly rebuilt Olds 350, actually built by Coleman brothers (which I was told were quite some experts) in 1987, and never ever started since! Receipts on the work and all the parts followed the engine.

First thing I did was to build the car over to automatic shift with the TH700 tranny, and everything worked really nice until the engine failed autumn -09. Following winter the new 350 was installed, and last summer me and my girlfriend took the Cutlass about 700 miles around in mother Norway. Not so much with the top down as we were hoping to due to the rainy summer, but a nice car to drive!

This winter I have got some new Cragar's for it, new- not so noizy- mufflers, and a new steering gear to improove the stearing. Now I cant wait for all the snow to leave, and to take the Olds for a spin again

This is just a little about me and my cars, and I will be posting some tech questions on the forums very soon, hoping there are some experts that may assist out there.

Welcome to CO. Thanks for sharing your story about both the Mustang and the Cutlass. I think there is something simple and elegant about a push rod engine with a single camshaft that really appeals to most of us 'motor heads'. I will agree that dual over head camshafts with fuel injection is much more efficient but hey, it's partially what our old cars are all about. Again, glad you joined us.

Hello Tony,

I don't know much about the NSU cars, but I do remember these small weird ones, and that they were popular in ice-racing many years ago. And they did well too, with the engine placed in the back. I don't think I've seen any of those in traffic the last 10 year's tough?

Regards
Tom
