Hello from Columbus Ohio
Hello from Columbus Ohio
I am new to this forum and am new to the classic car scene. I am a proud owner of 69 Cutlass Supreme that I just purchased about a month ago. I look forward to talking with some of you and I hope I can learn alot. I am very new to learnig how to work on cars but have doone a few things alreadt like plugs and wires, gas tank, brakes, fuel lines.
Please let me know if you live in the Columbus area (I live in westerville) and can help out with with some trouble shooting. I am looking for a good mechanic around here and am hoping I will find one.

Thanks I will look into that. I am hoping that I can find someone knowledgable that could stop by and look at it. I cant drive it right now and I am not sure whats wrong exactly. I replaced the gas tank and now the car dies while I am driving it and takes forever to start after that. It could be unrelated but I cannot tell.
Welcome aboard! This is one of the best, if not the best, Olds sites around. People here are real nice and I've picked a lot of brains here for technical advice in the restoration of my '68.
I don't know a whole lot about your gas flow problem. One of the places I would suggest looking into is the way your vent is set up on the gas tank (forward passenger side) to make sure it is the way it is supposed to be. I highly suggest purchasing a '69 Cutlass/4-4-2 assembly manual, as well as a '69 chassis service manual. The info in both documents is invaluable in researching problem areas.
Another great web site is www.wildaboutcars.com. You can join it for free and they have a multitude of items you can download directly for your own use, including the assembly manual.
My '68 is only one year off from yours, but I do have a '69 in my shop that I intend to get to someday!
