Greetings from Wisconsin

Hi everyone, I have been a member for a while now but I have not gotten around to introducing myself. I live near Milwaukee Wisconsin and own a '66 442 convertible and a '68 442 hardtop. The '68 is a recent purchase and may be a W30 car. I have no documents for it and the original engine and trans are long gone, so who knows.

Anyway, wanted to say hello and that I have enjoyed reading the posts and hanging out. It is a very informative site and I have used to search function extensively already.

Thumbs up

WELCOME ABOARD! "GO PACKERS!" (Even though they beat my Bears! "Da Bears!" ) As Aron N. already said -- really? You've been a member since the fall of '09 but just now are chatting? (Didja have some weird 'code of silence' until the Packers WON the SUperbowl or something!?! LOL! ) Anyway, WELCOME!

Hello all, thanks for the warm welcome. I have been distracted by a couple of moves over the last two years. We sold our house and recently purchased another here in Wisconsin, relocated for work reasons.

I will work on getting some photos up, though the '66 is a driver needing a complete restoration and the '68 is a really ugly basket case. So I'm afraid you are not missing much.

You're welcome Dude! Let's HOPE your move AND Job/Work Challenges are OVER for a while for ya!! (Hey, "basketcase" or no; many of us consider those "Cheap THERAPY" -- we love the challenge of it all and being able to MAKE SOMETHING of what others would send to the salvage yard!! )

For those of you that are kind of local I'd love to meet some other Olds people to hang out with. The whole last year our focus was on finding the right house, so now that that is finally over I hope to get back to work on my projects.

Welcome! As I too am in the Milwaukee area, I second the motion of finding out who all here is in the vicinty, and seeing what can be done to get together, when the snow disappears in May!

BTW, my ride is a 1962 Dynamic 88 convertible.

Glad to have you here!

Again, thanks for the greetings and kind words. Also I have sent a pm with my contact info, hope to hear from some of you, also hoping for a quick end to the cold weather.

Regarding the '68 it probably looks worse than it is. It is a southern car that has been up here for about ten years. It is pretty solid underneath, the last owner had good intentions and started a pretty ambitious resto effort, but family became his priority and the car sat in an open sided shed partially in primer, mostly taken apart. If I did not believe it was a W30 I would probably consider it a parts car. A lot of the OAI parts are there, as are the D heads, the TO axle, etc. It is going to be a long term project.

The '66 was going to be my restoration project but now is going to be my summer weekend driver. It looks fairly rough up close but I hope to redo the interior and replace the engine before spring. I bought it with an incorrect 350 in it and drove it home. It has an automatic on the column and a factory installed 3.91 anti-spin axle. Trying to keep up with traffic on the interstate was not too much fun....
