greetings torque lovers and gearheads
Hello classicoldsmobile.com people. I am from central california and have just got my 1971 Cutlass back on the road after over 12 years on deadline. I have used your members comments and posts through the entire engine rebuild process and I have to say thank you to all of you for helping me. I bought the car back in 1991 after desert storm while in the Marine Corps down in Yuma, AZ. (2nd Laam Jarheads!) I will be restoring one thing at a time until I land the job at the playboy mansion. It runs great and I have logged over 1700 miles on the new engine rebuild. Keep cruisin and kickdown baby. SA

12 yrs?
I used to live in Davis CA... rude surprise when I went to pay for registration after leaving the '68 off road for a year- I failed to fill out the "certificate of non-operation" in a timely manner, swearing that I was not using the car on the roads, therefore, of course, the ASSumption is that I was driving the car all that time and therefore I need to pay for next year AND last year AND the fine for being so sneaky about last year. OR, fork off and do w/o registration.
Being from MI, I had never hear of anything so ridiculous as having to TELL THEM if you are NOT using the car. These are the same idiots who took my OCY [cycle endorsement] driver's license and gave me for my money a regular car operator's license so that when I did get a cycle I had to go take the test including driving display in the parking lot. For more money of course.
Your bill for 12 yrs of undeclared non-operation must be like $1000!
Anyhow, thanks for your service, and for saving another Olds. Engine looks tight, if perhaps slightly a different shade of blue that one might expect. Slightly larger photos would be nice.... does she run OK and not overheat? Do you have to have the vacuum advance disconnected to pass smog, or is it exempt?

Motor T indeed. If you can't truck it, well, you know the rest. ha ha Thanks for the comments. I will upload larger pic. I paid my registration all this time because I live in a **** zone of california where you can't even park your car in the driveway without registration. Legal on day one of driving. Another reason to not sell it. I paid california socialist government over 12 years of fees for nothing? No way am i rollin over. I'll be the last one in America with a musclecar, my pistols, shotgun & rifle. (yes, assault is what you use it for when bad guys show up with their own) I am from michigan also so I can feel your pain with the rules. Exempt on smog and it runs great so far. it will get hot when not moving. I think they built it into these engines to never sit still. Haha
