G'day from Australia ...

Hello to all,

I am a member of the Oldsmobile Club of Australia and love driving "something different" .

In 2006 my father was offered a 1967 Delta 88 Custom and I bought it ... and the obsession began.

I found 4 more Oldsmobile's here in Australia and have bought 5 Cutlasses across from the USA... so in 2012 it will be time to move some on to new homes.

Oldsmobiles are not that well known in Australia ... but they are appreciated everywhere they go.

It's 2am here so I will be back soon ...

Welcome to our site! Looks like a beautiful car you have there. We have Adrian on here from Australia too, and used to have The Colonel also. Maybe you've seen their cars around over there!

Welcome also. Someone who used to deal in old Corvettes once told me that all cars imported and registered in Australia had to be converted to RHD. He said that was why early Vettes were popular due to the symmetry of the dash. Is this still true? Sounds like a hell of a project.

Welcome.
[sicky, I think I know the answer. When the car came over it was 'stock'. There's pics of the Foose wheels that were bought for it on another part of the site.]

I see the Foose 72 is still a left hand drive. Do you have to convert it if it stays over there? Most of the time you associate a Foose car with extensive modification to parts of the body and paint job. It's a great looking car. BTW, which of the OAI 'bonnets' did you order? I like the one from fibreconcepts myself. Shipping must be a killer for you though.

Thank you for the warm welcome .

I call my LHD 1972 Cutlass "Foose 72" only because it is running Foose 15x8's as it's only modification ... and one of my other Cutlasses is a 1972 S too ( but it is currently running a 425ci out of a 66 hardtop 88)

We do not need to convert the Lefties to Right Hand Drive any more ... although many owners still do ... imagine driving RHD Aussie cars on LHD streets.

I will post some pics soon.

Slantflat - I live only a suburb away from Narre Warren !

Allan R - I got the fibreconcepts Ram air bonnet for my big block 72 ... I am just waiting for the Foose 72 to get Club Registration ( 90 days usage annually ) , then I can take my other 72 off the road. I will be getting a reconditioned 455ci motor, the Ram Air "hood", a repro trunk lid and a strip and respray in it original Olive/Green colour - with gold fleck through it .

Jamesbo - I hope to visit the USofA someday too .. maybe for an Olds convention ?

Frankr442 - you are right ... it is not a project for the miser ... needs to be done right by an engineer... big $$''

I think I answered most of you ? sorry if I missed something.

Here's some info regarding where my Olds' are from ...

1967 Delta 88 Custom
pillarless 4 door RHD 425ci - found in Lochsport, Victoria AUS. - Deceased estate ..currently under complete "pimping" with wire wheels and show class paint - long term project ... owes me way too much money

1968 Cutlass S
350ci Auto - imported from Washington state - seller was a nice guy - it should clean up well

1968 Cutlass S
455ci T400 posi 4.11s - from Arizona - seller had me a little concerned with a lack of communication after payment, but it's here now and sounds crazy - keeper for now ... will have a play with this one.

1969 "Model 98" saloon
RHD 455ci auto -found in Queensland AUS... was going to use it for weddings but too busy with other stuff ... For Sale

1970 Vista Cruiser wagon
RHD 350ci auto - Found in Geelong Victoria AUS - fresh drivetrain but she a bit rusty ... keep for now, soon to go onto Club Registration as I haven't used it for a while ... love it though.

1970 Cutlass S
350ci auto -Boy racer car out of Tennessee ... sounds crazy and a friend of mine has put down a deposit on it ... needs interior work but he is an upholsterer ... so he wont have any problems there.

1971 Cutlass S
- 350ci - awaiting retrieval from Oregon... this week

1972 Cutlass S
350ci auto - my "Foose 72" came from Oregon too... love this car ... stock and lovingly restored by the previous owner ... had to put mag wheels on it. Sorry Greg

1972 Cutlass S
425ci, RHD, GRA - Found in New South Wales AUS - Soon to be a 455 / 442 tribute ... GRA = Gas Research Aus. - a company specialising in LPG conversions ... LPG or Propane is commonly used as a fuel here ... usually half to a third the cost of petrol

1978 Cutlass Supreme
factory option 350 chev - a surprise find in Queensland AUS. - too cheap to pass up ... not really my taste as I prefer 67 - 72's but it drives nice ... and needs some work though.

So there you have the "Fleet" at this time ...

I am hoping to move some of them on to new homes soon ... as I have run out of space and need some $$ back in the bank.

more soon ...

Sounds like the color you're describing is 'Baroque Gold'. Check your cowl tag. If its BG, the PNT code should be 57. If the car originally came with a vinyl roof, the code will be listed alongside the PNT code
AA = white
BB = Black
GG = Green
TT = Covert Beige

FYI, here's a link to what your car might look like when it's done. https://classicoldsmobile.com/forums...m-oai-14k.html

Wow. Welcome aboard. Can only imagine having that many Oldsmobiles in a country where they aren't exactly common.

Gary, did you ever know Col Wickham? I think he was one of the most well-liked members we've ever had here and died way too young at 55. Col had a unique and often hilarious perspective on about everything, and could make us realise how silly some of our uptight American ways really are.

You should buy one of the dealer Oldsmobile signs and put it up on your roof. Quite an impressive collection!
