Florida check in

Figured I might as well get signed up as I will be picking up a 1972 Olds Cutlass this week. It replaces a 1932 Ford 3 Window Coupe highboy I recently sold. I was actually looking for another Chevelle (I've had a couple) and this car popped up and after looking at it for a couple of weeks I decided to get it. I like the fact it is not as popular as Chevelles and Camaros. I'll see if I made a good decision or not. Always a bit of a crap shoot with a 40+ year old car. Even though there isn't a lot of Cutlass parts left on it, I hope to get educated about the car anyway. The car has a Chevy 454 in it.

Hoping to post a pic.

Guess no pics.....

Got a couple to show on replies.

That looks like a bad *** ride. Don't know how much you'll find out about it here since there really isn't much left from a classic perspective. Show us a pic or give some numbers from off the cowl tag or VIN plate and we can tell you what it may have looked like when born.

I can help with the VIN. Curious what it "was".

3G87H2M14xxxx (don't figure you need the full sequence)

Here's an Olds that I was in charge of. I was in product planning for a company called Cars & Concepts and this was my project. We did the graphics, had the body parts tooled and built, installed the Hurst Lightning Rod shifter. Oldsmobile drop shipped the cars to us then we painted them, installed the additional equipment and Oldsmobile picked them back up and shipped them to the dealers. We also did all of the Mustang convertibles and T-Roofs in that time period.

Welcome to the group... Looks like you have had a some dealings with Olds history based on the 83 Hurst info you provided... Good luck with your 72 Cutlass acquisition...

3= Oldsmobile
G= Cutlass
87= 2 door hdtp
H= 350 ci 2bbl 160hp
2= 1972
M= Lansing MI (assembly plant)

Rest of numbers are sequence in line

Really like the look of the Hurst. It was a real head turner back then and a nice one today still is sharp. Nice work!

The cowl tag will give us more info as far as color of interior/exterior and other stuff

Welcome, Both those cars are really neat. I'll bet the Cutlass will get used more than the 32 was. I really like the stance/wheels of the 72.

Yes, I think the 72 will get more miles per year. Thanks.

Interior.

The steering wheel will end up getting changed.

Great looking car. I am wondering what sizes you are running for wheels and tires and if you know if the car was lowered at all. The stance on it looks really good.

The rears 20's, fronts 18's. I don't have the widths or tire sizes yet. It has an AirRide Technologies air bag system so the ride can adjusted up and down / front to back.

Well it's a long story which I won't bother you with other than the fact that I didn't end up with the Olds. I ended up buying a 1969 Camaro SS with a 502 in it. Oh well......

Sorry the Olds didn't work out. Nice Camaro though.

X2 Eric. That really is a pretty Camaro. Even through the Olds had a Chevy 454 in it, it was a very well built car.
