Finally!! Back in an Olds!!!!
Hi everyone, I've been a member since '09 when I started doing some resto work on my friend Cheryls '76 Salon( pics are on the 73 to 77 forum under "Cheryls car") I finally got my own 442 again this past July! It's a very nice '68 factory a/c 4 spd car. It still has it's original drivetrain, the interior is mostly original(except I put in a new headliner & carpet)disregard the H/o floor mats in the pics, they're gone) It has a decent older paint job that's far from perfect but it's straight & rust free. I don't know much about it's history other than it lived in Texas 'til 2003. I've spent the last few weeks just going over it, tightening things up,doing some detailing etc. The underside is incredible!,no rust, everything unbolts! Living in NY & Ohio my whole life & seeing what snow & road salt does to our cars I was so happy to find this car from a nice climate. Right now I haven't decided how far I want to go with it, It's tight & runs awesome so I'll leave it as a nice driver for now.Take care...Rob

Beautiful 68. You even have the positive battery cable in the right place. Get rid of that Hurst shifter handle and get the right black ball
Nice color, I should know the name because I had the same color Cutlass Supreme in 1978 but I don't remember. Truth be know I probably never cared. It's probably Sapphire Blue. If you post the cowl tag info we can tell you. Here's the only shot I have of mine

Thanks for the nice responses!!! I'm so happy to have a 442 back in my garage after all these years!! To johnnys442 it is the factory color,it's code "k" ocean turquoise metallic,I love the color, especially without a vinyl top. The door jambs, underside of the trunk & inner front fenders are still the original paint. To allyolds68,The "t" handle isn't going anywhere, the white ones are pretty rare, plus it's the one piece I saved from my last '68 that I regretfully sold back in '89,I was 28 when I last power shifted that t handle!!. I do have the plain black ball for it though!

Hello everyone,I need your help. I've been researching the owner history of my 442. I traced it back to a Buick GMC dealer in Stillwell Ok in 2001. I called the owner{Ron Shirley} I asked him if they kept any paper work on any muscle cars that they sold from over 10 yrs ago. He told me that he buys & sells allot of classic cars & any papers he had would have gone with the car when sold,he said he probably wouldn't remember it from that long ago. He asked me what kind of car it was, when I told him it was a '68 442, he immediately asked if it was a turquoise 4spd car?! He said he remembered it because it was such a nice original car. He told it was featured in some kind of magazine or muscle car book that he saw in the early 2000s( I believe it was in Texas at that time) He said it still had his Ron Shirley license plate frame on it in the pictures. Unfortunately he didn't remember what the book was & I've tried to no avail to find the article. Has anyone seen the seen the article?? I'd love to get a copy to keep with the car, any help would be greatly appreciated Thanks>>>>>Rob, my cell is 330.635.5340
