Dual Gate Shifter

Messing around with the car trying to learn some things and I slid the chrome plate over the 1-2-3 side and can't figure out how to open it again. Probably simple but....

Its spring loaded once you unlatch it. To close it pull/slide it back over.

Thank you!.........I did get the cover to release open. By putting the shifter in the "L" position I was able to open it.
