Yes but the question is should you do it. If you set up the suspension right you can make a 19 front 20 rear combo look OK but a 18 front 19 rear or 18 front and rear looks better. Leave the 20" for the big cars IMO

Gawd, I hope not.

Yes, the rims fit. Of course, it's the TIRES that will rub, not the rims. Since you didn't specify a tire size, it's hard to answer your question.

You will have to spend big bucks to get rubber band tires for 20 inch rims. If you convert to bigger rims make sure you upgrade your brakes and wheel bearings.

they would fit but why? If you stay original or go a little bit bigger and keep some tire on there and not rubber band tires on there you will save money and they will look better but that is my 2 cents

And, of course, THAT information is applicable to a 1968 Cutlass...

As I said above, the WHEELS will fit. Whether or not the TIRES rub will depend on the tires and the offset of the wheels, neither of which has been supplied. And as for "haters", here's why (OH! My eyes! ):

I must admit, we are VERY opinionated about this subject, haters? I say no, just opinionated, which is ok as long as we remain polite about it, which we have.

I think you might have to invest in a yard stick....i believe that 20 ≠ 26. All I am saying is times and tastes change. If it keeps the classic from going to a crusher, i say put 33's on it.

Also- yes, tires are connected to the wheelbone.

Looks Good is a matter of opinion. With that said if you put them on your car and like the way they look, then thats the only opinion that should matter to you, after all its your car. I myself must admit to being one of the "haters".

Please remember that I didn't take any shots at you. I only gave my opinion I'm not trying to push it on anyone. Again its your car to do what you like with it.And for your information the jitterbug hasn't been around for over 65 years. These cars where built on ROCK AND ROLL.

sheesh-

Its not a shot at you...its an allegory showing things that were popular in the past will not always be popular in the future: ie the jitterbug, also 20 inch rims. While the rims may be possible to remain popular for decades, it will inevitably go on a vehicle that keeps someone driving and maintaining it (hopefully) and therefore be around in 65 years for someone else to make their own when the jitterbug comes back in style.

Jitterbugs gonna jitter.

No problem here Buckner. Even tire sizes go in and out of style. My 26 Chevrolet has 21 inch tires on it,although they are only 3 inches wide. And my Cutlass had 17s on it at one time.

20's on a big car like your 63 can be made to look pretty good but they are not proportioned right for a Cutlass. You can do it but a mini-tub and 20 x 12 are needed and it has to be sitting really low to look right.

I'm with him.

and yes times do change, and what was popular in the past isn't popular now. but putting big wheels on everything isnt whats popular now. and i laugh at the people that do it everytime i see it. newer camaros, challengers and charger were built around big rims oldsmobile were not.

call me a hater.

Of course, back when I was in high school (right after the Earth cooled) having Pro-Trac N50-14s sticking out of your rear fenderwells was THE style...

Oh, and don't forget the shackles on the leaf springs.

Holy Retardination...

1/4 mile turning radius ? Check.
Conastoga wagon quality ride ? Check.
Riding mower handling ? Check.

Yeah, that's got it all....

OK, we're slowly getting a little off topic, but can someone explain to me the rationale for using low profile tires (presumably the reduced sidewall height is supposed to improve handling) then jacking the car up to make them fit. Yeah, THAT will improve handling.

Well, this one isn't quite as bad as the rocket scientists who buy an SUV (with all the heavy 4WD hardware) then install these dubs and tires that have trouble when the pavement is damp.

We are close to the same age obviously because I saw lots and lots of the those when I was younger. Shackles on the leaf springs and those spacers or twisty-lifter-thingies on the coils springs.
