Decode '63 Starfire Dataplate?
I just swapped a '64 Studebaker 4 dr for a '63 Starfire from ME, VIN 636C01779, data tag: 10C...................674, style 63-3657.....body BC, trim 997.......paint LLA, Magic Mirror acrylic lacquer..... Problem is that it has only a 2 barrel carb and no AC nor power seats. It has everything else in working condition: console tach, radio, all PW, tilt and drives like new! The paperwork stated 46K miles and it drives that way. The car has been refinished about 10-15 years in a bright red finish. I removed the "painted" stainless steel fenderskirts and there has been no rust in the wheelhousings. I would like to buy a set of 3 groove pulleys so I could install AC for FL heat. Can someone help with data plate info? Thanks, Sam in Spring Hill, FL

HMM, I'm pretty sure all Starfire's came standard with high compression 394 4 Barrel carbs. In fact just finished rebuilding, installed-tuned the 63 4 jet carb on my 63 Starfire. This car has 36K miles, 90% original..

Decode ;
10C = body built 3rd week of October 1962
Style 63 - 3657 = 1963 Starfire hardtop coupe
Body BC = assembled at South Gate , Calif .
Trim 997 = White interior
Paint LLA = Regal mist ( dark red ) metallic upper and lower body with black wheels ( wheel covers )
Power seats and air conditioning , although often installed on Starfires , were options . And not ordered with this car .
All Starfires were equipped with a 345 HP four barrel engine .
However , a two barrel carb and manifold from a Dynamic 88 can be easily installed .
This is what someone in the history of this car did . Probably in an attempt to get better gas mileage .
