buying a Rallye 350
Just thought I would write a few lines telling about my wifes future purchase. Well, we had a rallye 350 Holiday coupe back in the late 70's. It was a bench seat 4 speed car that I bought for $200. with a smoking engine. I replaced the motor with a regular 71 Cutlass 350 & we drove it for 2 years & I sold it in 1980 for $1000.00 thinking that was great. My wife really liked it & said she wanted another some day. Well about a .month ago I stopped at a local old car dealers place to check out an overpriced 66 GTO he had & he said look at what I just bought from the original owner yesterday. It was a 70 Rallye 350 cutlass post coupe (33677), with buckets & a 4 speed.
He is detailing it up ,( removed engine & tranny to clean & paint engine & engine compartment) He blasted & repainted the wheels because the original owner had trim rings on & scratched the wheels.
He has it almost back together & my wife has a deal sewed up ( I think shes paying a little high,$32.000) but I called the original owner & he said it is mostly original paint other than a front fender that a drunk bumped back in its early days. I noticed the left fender has the 71 & newer crash dimples in the flat strip where the hood sits.
It has 80,000 some original miles & is a 4 speed with the deluxe seat pattern on the seats, I have seen buckets with the plainer looking uppholstery on them.
I have a few pictures while being freshened up.
My wife cant wait to drive it. By the way it has NO power steering or brakes.
I mneed to load my pictures & will send them as soon as I get them ready

Nice, that is the lowest production Rallye made (3677-160). This is the one that the internet made people think that they only made a total of 14-17 Rallye 350 4-speeds all together. That may be true for 3677, but not overall production. Great find, post up more photos when you get the car home!

I added a few new progress photos to the General discussion forum of what the car currently looks like. Should be picking it up in a week or so, they gotta get a few bugs out of it ( some wiring & light issues.)
