Hello fellas,
I like Oldsmobiles, I think they're classy without being pinkie in the air Cadillac style, ya know? Many heathens forget Olds used to be the fastest, best engineered, best built, most beautiful mid level cars built by GM. When did the "grandpa's car" thing start? I'm only 27 so I grew up with that being the stigma.

My dream car is the 1953 Starfire. Yeah, the concept car (anybody got a 1st Gen Corvette shell laying around?). My attainable dream car is a black '54 super 88 2dr hardtop, white interior, red highlights. Hubcaps and wide whites. Gorgeous car.

Engines are my gig, pre '64 engines have tickled me the most lately. Presently building a hot 324 olds. Cleaned up the heads, installed some decent springs to hold the roller cam in check, 371 pistons, Gotha adjustables, nothing fancy, but it'll crackle. Also helping my uncle restore his '55 Super 88 hardtop. It was my grandfathers but he ran it out of water (locked) so he gave it away if my uncle would get it out of the yard. Nice. Stock appearing resto with some engine warming. Just a cruiser.

I run with the Suedes out of Minn./N. Dak. Traditional rods and customs, ya dig? Building a '29 roadster. 50's hot rod. Olds power, of course.

Thanks for having me aboard.

Welcome. I think the "grandpa car" image became associated with Oldsmobiles in the mid to late 70s. Their advertising slogan was "It's not your father's Oldsmobile," but I guess people just didn't believe it.

pics coming as soon as I get them! I guess I don't take too many pictures of an engine build, thats maybe a good idea though. . . can't do it right now, stuck in Iraq (again). You'll have to wait until February.

technically my grandfather wasnt a grandfather when he owned the car, so take that as you will. . .

thanks for the welcome!

Eventually it happens to the best of us if we're lucky, Grandpa's car is a 4-4-2 now.
