Another new Guy

Hello, I'm another new guy here and happy to find a home for myself and my Great Grandmothers 65 delta 88. My grandmother died in 1990 and the car has been setting ever since. She only has 50003 miles on her but the sun has not been kind to her. I need to find lots of interior parts for her. I picked her up last week. I just put the battery cables back on the battery, poured some 91 octane gas in her and she fired right up and I drove her up on the trailer and brought her home. Any one that can help me with parts please let me know. Thanks

The car looks real solid under the dust and grime. Those bumpers are beautiful.

Body, trim, and interior parts for the large Oldsmobiles are not reproduced in the aftermarket. Whatever you need will have to come from donor cars. There are people on here who have parts. You should come up with list of specifically what you need and post it in the Parts Wanted section.

After all those years make sure you change all the fluids. Think about replacing the rubber hoses and belts. Most likey will need a break job and new soft hoses. Drain the fuel tank the stuff in the tank is goo by now. Good luck with her.

The ole gal needs a good tune. Great thing about these cars you can hear and feel the differance when you do. 10X on the brakes...they may look and feel ok but they are a funneral waiting to happen. When you get the tune -up done take her out for a slow long road trip. .....get the bones working again!!
My car sat the same way...one thing I did was slowly replace the tranny fluid, but not all at once. I did it by taking a pint out every 1000 miles. Make sure you can find a tranny filter before pulling it out...they are difficult to find!!!!! I can't change mine until I find a new one.
I also repacked the wheel bearings. Eventually I replaced the rear wheel bearings...sounded like I had truck tires on the rears. Huge improvement.
Check the condition of tires and the age!!!! My tires looked good but were over 10 years old. Within a 1000 miles I had a blow out. The seals are most likely toast!!
Great car and good luck...Keep us posted.

Welcome. Wow, what a complete car and an easy restore. I would be sure and put the dealer nameplate back on the trunk. One question, did great grandmother put the dual exhaust on it? They did not come like that from the factory. Cool though. There are several guys on here that will be able to help you. There is a great group of guys and a couple of gals on here that are glad to help.

Au contraire- dual exhaust could be ordered on any 1965 big Olds regardless of engine, it just was standard only on Starfire engines. But yeah, them big KMA tailpipes are not factory.

Navvet- this car has a Turbo 400 which will be much easier to find a filter for than the Slim Jim.

Delta has some specific exterior and interior trim, otherwise it uses the same stuff as any other full-size 65 Olds. It took the place of the Super 88 in the model lineup.
