Glade to see you saved the car!!!!!! What is the VIN on the car? That will help determine the number.

That VIN tells you that this is a 1983 Oldsmobile Cutlass Calais 2-door coupe with a 5.0 Liter (307 cubic inch) Hurst/Olds engine with a non-passive restraint system made by General Motors at the Lansing plant. The last six digits just tell you what sequence number this car was of ALL cars made at that plant. The sequence probably started with 100001 or something like that, so subtracting that from 379273 would make your car the 279,272nd Olds to come off that assembly line that year. There is no way to tell from this what number Hurts/Olds this was to come off the line.

I don't know if such records are kept or were put together elsewhere. Maybe the Hurst/Olds club would have more info. I looked at their site just now, and in the "history" section, it does state that 3,000 H/O's were built in '83.

http://www.hurstolds.com/history/

There is a reference given at the bottom of that page. Maybe you could find a copy of it. It certainly looks like a club you might consider joining.

Al on this site - 69ho aurora - can tell the sequence number from the vin. He can also tell you the dealer that sold it.
