79 Omega New to Forum

Hi all. I am new here so please be gentle . I currenly am rebuilding a 79 Olds Omega SX for my 16 y/o son over here in beautiful Millbrook Alabama. We are going to go get the engine and tranny for it this weekend from a guy in Atlanta. Its an Olds 403 with a brand new rebuilt tranny. I have yet to figure out if my son or my wife is more exciting about driving it the first time.

Thank you . Millbrook is about 20 minutes north of Montgomery. I am stationed at the base here. Been in the Air Force for 12 years now and just got here from Washington state 3 weeks ago.

Talking Welcome to CO

Man what a change from Wet Washington, sounds like a fun project, wife or son first drive, either way you are not going to be a winner in someones eyes. Good luck

Welcome to CO! How 'bout some pictures along the way. I spent some time in the USAF, way back when. Joined up to be around planes, and they put me in communications centers with a top secret crypto clearance to repair teletype/crypte equipment, on bases w/o runways, or planes, and in faraway places! Thankfully, I am remembering the good memories of Karamuersel, Turkey.

It was quite a drive from washington. Its been a mild winter but as soon as we leave, the snow sleet and hail starts falling lol. I'll post some build pics up as soon as I figure out which box my 13 year old packed our digital camera in

Welcome to CO. Just the other day I was discussing with my son when the last 403 was used. We were both thinking '79 so your story confirms it. I have a reference to check but forgot. Some people here with data bases for minds probably know without flinching. In fact it could be '80.
