72 Delta Royale Vert Dash Speaker Removal
72 Delta Royale Vert Dash Speaker Removal
Hello everyone. I'm from Kentucky and new to this site. I just purchased a 72 Delta Royale vert. I'm looking to replace my dash speakers, but I'm not sure how to replace them. It looks like the metal grills are separate from the dash, but when I tried to pry them up, they would not pop out. Am I doing something wrong? Does the entire dash need to be removed to access the speakers? If so, is there a write up for removing the dash. I appreciate any assistance I can get concerning this matter. Thanks
There are nuts underneath that hold them down. The grilles have three threaded legs that also hold the speaker. It's kind of a dash sandwich with the grilles on top, dash, then the speakers with the nuts at the bottom.
It's been a while, but I remember having to take some of the other dash pieces off to get under there to get them off. I think the passenger side was a lot easier.

The parts you might need to remove are easy. Start at the bottom and look for screws. You will just have to remove the "hard plastic parts", not the vinyl padded part at all. If you have wicked long and skinny arms, you might not have to remove anything like I did.
To get the driver's side speaker, remove the leftmost "module." You can probably get your hands in there with it hanging out.
To get to the passenger side speaker, remove the glove compartment, which is part of the lower trim that goes leftward past the center line of the car (you may be able to reach up without removing the glove compartment, lying on your back).

Yep, but they do come off.
Be careful reinstalling them, as you don't want to make the too tight and bend or strip them.
Also be careful cleaning them up - they're brittle pot metal and can break easily.
Glad you got it done!
