No a vinyl top is not rare, and no blue interior is not rare.

 

I think it looks good blue w black vinyl top.

i would change the interior to black tho

Agreed, seems I recall back in the 70s-80s seeing one WITHOUT a vinyl top was rare.

 

Still is. Out of the 15 or so ‘72 Supremes I’ve owned since 1990, only two did not have vinyl
tops from the factory. I love the blue interiors. They’re not rare per se, but they’re less common than black or white by far.

I was going to vote that it is NOT rare in 72, clicked to vote (hoping to see option of yes or no);
and it accepted it as a YES I guess .

Every '72 Cutlass I owned had a vinyl top and even the (3) '72 Ninety Eights and (1) '72 Delta 88 had them

Also had one 72 Cutlass in Viking Blue with blue interior (bucket seats but no console, column shift)

 

I think the current color combo works well, and I am not a vinyl roof guy.

As far as rare goes vinyl roof is very common for this generation IMHO. Interior wise I cant say but I like blue.

The only thing rare about having a vinyl top would be having the original in grest shape still on the car. Good luvk eith your project.
