71 olds "98"

Hi I'm trying to fix up a 71 old 98 model and was wondering if anyone knew where I could find some new parts. Looking for door weather stripping, the window felt, a manual window regulator and a few other interior parts. Father and son project and trying to finish it for him...
Thank you in advance.

Welcome to CO, RicT!! Great place to be. Steele Rubber (website) should have your rubber weather stripping, and they have great customer service!

I think the window regulator will be harder to find. Rubber weatherstripping, as has been pointed out, is available from a number of suppliers, and Fusick is probably the best-known Oldsmobile restoration parts source. But they don't carry window regulators. You'll likely need to get that from a junkyard car. You should mention your need in the parts wanted section, call places that advertise in Hemmings Motor News, and things like that.

I have a '73 Custom Cruiser and I once owned a '75 Delta 88, so I've got some familiarity with what's available new for the full-size Oldsmobiles from the '71 to '76 era. In general, engine, brake, drivetrain, and suspension parts are still available over the counter at your local auto parts store or online at places like rockauto.com. But there is nothing reproduced in the body, bumper, and trim areas. That all has to come from donor cars.

That's what I was afraid of not finding the window regulator new... was hoping another more popular olds model was interchangeable. Thank you ill give those a try.
Is there a common short in this car that drains battery when sitting for a few days? I changed the alternator to an internal regulator thinkin that was the problem..

It's very possible that something does interchange from another Olds or maybe from another GM car of that size and vintage. Someone on here may know.

Not that I know of. If you have any kind of motorized option, like power windows or locks or antenna, make sure that they're not the problem. Sometimes switches don't fully turn off when you stop pushing on them, causing a constant, slight draw from the battery. I had this happen with a power antenna once.

If you can hook up an ammeter to the battery, you can then start disconnecting things one by one and see if doing so on something doesn't cause the meter's needle to change position.

If the battery is weak, you could get this kind of behavior, especially if you've replaced, for example, the radio with a more modern one that draws power all the time because it has a clock or memory presets.

I've email a few websites that carry Oldsmobile parts but no one ever emailed me back with that info.

It doesn't have power seats windows locks or antenna. But I have changed the radio. Problem still happens with new battery though. Its bad enough where I disconnect battery when I don't drive it for a few days. I'm gunna give the ammeter a try...
thanks....
