68 vs 72 rear
hello everyone I’m the new year this week with a question that maybe considered one of old but anyway here it goes.
i have a 68 cutlass that I recently replaced the 8.2 rear with a 8.5 rear from a 72 cutlass. I now have a rear wheel wobble and believe it to be runout of the flange after ruling out other possibilities.
Question: can the rear axle from the 68 fit in the 72 rear?
2nd Question: my 72 rear has the lugs at the bottom so is this the true 8.5 rear

If it has two converging ribs or only one rib then it is an 8.2 for sure.
The brake mounting boss on top of the center section is the dead giveaway for the 8.5 rear.
