68 Vista Cruiser

I've been lurking around in the back-ground for a few months and I suppose it's time to hit the newbie forum.
I bought my 68 'Vista in the fall of 1996. It ran great (I still haven't done a tune-up) but the body needed some work. I found a body-man who was willing to replace the rust with solid metal and paint the car for under $4K - that's a lot of money when you're raising 4 sons. I stripped the chrome and interior from the car added the 442 hood (couldn't live with the regular Cutlass hood) and then waited for 6 months before getting it back in the spring of 1997.
There's a lot of chrome on the Vista Cruiser so it took a couple of months to put everything back together. Then the rear end went so a 3:55 posi rear was installed.
There are still a few changes coming up - a 455 out of a 68 Delta 88 is waiting for paint and installation. There is a set of bucket seats waiting for some Supreme seat covers and the console needs to be re-painted before installing.

... to be continued

George

X4 on pics!

Hood discrimination?
I can live with my Cutlass bonnet (Brit lingo).
Those twin sculpted hood bulges are actually really nice from a design standpoint IMO.

I'm going to have the only Vista Cruiser around with a regular hood and whitewalls with wheel covers. I'm the the man who hears a different drummer drumming. The constant drum noise in my head noise is driving me crazy, the voices are bad enough, must..find..tinfoil..hat.

Welcome George, so you've found the other place I hang out on computer. I hope you'll have the VC finished in time for the show in July...if not there is a "Best Project" catagory. See you at the cruise nights.
