67 Delmont 88 Front Brakes

Hello, been awhile since i posted on here. I have a 67 Delmont 2-door Hardtop with 4-wheel drum brakes. I was wanting to convert front to disc. Here's the thing the speedo run's off front spindle. Some people on here said either leave it stock or buy a kit to retain stock hub. Was at local Pull-A-Part and found a 70 Olds 98, with disc brakes. Got to looking the speedo ran off driver's side spindle. Needless to say i got whole spindle assembly. calipers, poportion valve etc. for $75 (both sides). Oh yea i bought the rim's also for clearance reason with factory drum brake rim's. No one who seen my original post could tell me how long they made the speedo like that. Most people never even had heard of such a thing.

Be aware that NO ONE makes new replacement rotors for the 1967-70 full size cars. Impala parts do not fit. There are a handful of NOS rotors still available - expect to pay dearly for them. There's a thread on this site that talks about some minor machining to get 2010 Camaro rotors to fit. You might want to look for it. Good luck.

Given this, you (lester79) might reconsider doing this conversion at all. I have a '67 Delta 88, which is pretty much the same car, and I've got drums on all four wheels. The car stops straight and true, and I've no expectation of ever wanting to put discs on the front.

I'm kind of curious why you want to do this conversion. Does the car stop poorly? Perhaps making sure the brakes are working properly would help. While the four-drum setup gets a lot of dissing nowadays, it's not as though cars of that era with four-wheel drums wouldn't stop or otherwise had unsafe braking systems.

The 67 i got set awhile before i got it. That is reason it was parked no brakes. The wheel cylinder's are shot, etc. The 70 brake system is in great shape. It doesn't even need wheel bearing's but i'm going to replace them. The Knoxville,Tn Pull A Part is set up different from most salvage yard's it's in the city limit's. They can only keep car's 30 day's then crush them. You would not believe the stuff you see down there. The same day i got brakes friend of mine got some jeep part's the tag was still in date. The only thing missing from that 70 Olds 98 was motor, probably a 455. Yes i was aware that Delta was the same care your's has a little more chrome and option's. Mine has a few option's it has 425 super rocket, AC factory tint, power brakes.
