66 442 help

hello , i am new to this site. great info here. looking for info on dealer over the counter track pack options sold around june 1966. could one order this option after purchase of vehicle and more importantly could you get the tri power and air induction installed in a automatic a/c car. the reason i am asking is one such car has a core support with air induction cut outs. Nothing else was there, no motor, trans,or rear trunk battery. just wondering if it could have been a track pac car. the cawl tag read 6d last week in june. i know the factory cars with the w30 track pack were only installed on 4 speeds and not on a/c cars.

thanks for any help in advance.

The 54 factory cars were built in June 66 (weeks A, B, C). the individual parts were available shortly thereafter, and a bit later the 230195 Track Pack was offered through GMPD. 397615 was the conversion package to go to Tri Carbs. Obviously you could buy the stuff and put it on any 442. If you want to go into extreme details, find me or Curt Anderson at an Olds meet.

Just to clarify: "Trac Pac" is the term used for the dealer installations of the W30 package. So the 54 factory W30s were technically not Trac Pac cars.

The dealer installations would include the trunk battery setup.
When you say "nothing else is there......rear trunk battery", do you mean there is no evidence of a trunk mounted battery at all?
If there was no trunk mounted battery at all, then it was not a W30, factory or Trac Pac.

Thanks for the great data. One thing of interest... could you help me contact Curt Anderson regarding a recent 66 w30 in Minnesota. i assume he has a user name on this site.

230195 package was available through parts dept. 10/66, some of the components a bit earlier.
397201,2,3 shroud and halves were available separately in early 67.
