64 jet star 88

This is my first post, so I'm sorry if doing this incorrect. Back when I was 19 was working in the parts dept of an Olds dealer. I special ordered a 64 jet star 88. It turned out to be a rare car. I ordered a 2 door hardtop with bucket seats and 4 speed manual transmission with rear stabilizer bar. Also with am fm radio. It was yellow with dark green interior. The person I sold it to said he sold it to someone in the Montana, Wyoming area. I was wondering if anyone owns this car or knows of it? Would like to know if it's still around somewhere. Sorry I ever sold it

Welcome. I gave you your own thread rather that burying your post at the end of a parts wanted thread. The manual trans versions of the J88 are rare. Good luck.

When did he tell you this? In other words, when was the last time you knew the car still existed? If he told you this in 1965, say, the odds are almost zero that the car still exists. If he told this to you 5 or 10 years ago, the odds are very good that the car still exists.

Also, in case you find databases or something like that to search, the car's name is actually one word in Oldsmobile's vocabulary, Jetstar 88. I owned a '64 two-door hardtop myself back in the '90s. It did not have a manual transmission.

Good luck in your search. While the odds are hugely stacked against you, you never know.

Thanks Joe. I appreciate your help, I know this is a needle in a haystack, but thought its worth a try. I sold it in 1985 and second owner sold to an olds collector about 1989. Just hoped he was a user of this forum. Thanks again for moving message

So the bottom line is that the last time you know the car existed was 25 years ago. That would seem to suggest that the odds are against you.

On the other hand, it still existed 25 years after it was originally sold in 1964. I think that says something. A car that manages to make it to 25 years of age and still be on the road is likely to continue to exist well beyond that time as it has more or less made it to "antique" or "survivor" or whatever status without being scrapped. I'll bet your car IS out there somewhere.
