Well it looks like I finally snuck into an Olds forum. This is the 3rd one ive tried to gain access too. Ive been told im not "part of the club" and the other just ignored my request. Ive been creeping around on here for a while. Looks like a Lot of nice ride and some good info. Hopefully yall will except a once olds, then ford and back to an olds again guy.
Ill post some pics up a little later once I get her cleaned up a bit, but I recently got a hold of my 1st car again. Im not excited about how I got the car back but im glad shes home. Its a 74 Hurst/Olds. I got the car when I was a kid and restored it with my dad. Life happened and we ended up selling to a good family friend with the understanding that we would want it back if he decided to sell it. Well I got a hart breaking call, that he had been diagnosed with a terminal illness. Sadly he was given 6-8 months to live and made it about 3 weeks. My dad and I made the trip to pick the car up last week, while I love seeing the car back in my garage, it sucks how I had to get it back.
Bill had the car for just over 12 years, put a whole 3100 miles on her. He has done quite a bit of work to the under side of the car. Im hoping I can get her out of the garage the next couple of days and clean her up a bit and see what all she has had improved, and what she needs. I know the brakes are inop, and I may have an oil psi issue.
anyway I hope to spend some time on here and pick yalls brain a bit
thanks for having me

I can about imagine what the other two were. I got banned from one years ago and quit another because of the site owner's schitty attitude. I haven't looked back.
So, welcome to CO. I have a 74 Hurst Y77 that will be a road warrior again someday, probably when I retire and get away from 70 hour work weeks. Yours a 350 or 455?
And hey- nothing wrong with Fords. I've had them, and both my drivers are Fords. Between a 97 Bravada, a beyond-bad dealer, and GM axing Olds and Pontiac, I will not own another modern GM vehicle.

Welcome to Classic Olds, sorry to hear how you reatained your car but you should be grateful that Bill thought enough of your friendship to keep the car and let you get it back.
Sounds like a true friend.

Lol maybe? My kiddo goes to school with and is buddies with their youngest.
Yeah bill was a great guy. Was more like an uncle. He would let me hang out at his shop and taught me a lot about cars. My dad was an AMC pilot and was gone a lot. He's probably a lot of the reason I have a passion for cars and turning wrenches like I do
It's not looking like I'm going to get her cleaned up till Monday. So here are some dirty garage pics lol

I havnt gotten to see how she's running currently. The brakes are about 10% of what they should be, I'm not showing positive oil pressure and have a gen. Dummy light on. When the car was built she was pushing 518 at the tires. She was definitely more car than a 16 year old kid needed. At the same time it taught me pretty early to respect high hp cars. Probably the only reason I'm still alive now.
