62 Starfire heading for Sweden.

Hi guys, My name is Michael Thunberg, Iīm almost 23 years old and I live in Sweden, been a member here since I had my ī62 98 4d hardtop in 2010. Finally Iīve got the Starfire of my dreams!! Itīs a white over cirrus blue california blackplate car that has been of the road since 1991. I bought it of a friend of mine in north cal this fall, he also has a 61 98 coupe in same condition as the starfire along with 40 other cars.
The Starfire is in pretty good condition compared to the other ones I`ve looked at over ther years. The reason why its of the road is a spun main bearing or a thrown rod, no holes in the oil pan but there is a problem somewhere. Any way itīs a real nice project.

Hereīs some pics of as is:

Hoping to get some comments now / Mike

Looks like a very solid car, hopefully the engine can be rebuilt.

Welcome aboard, that looks like a great project. All the trim appears to be there and in good shape, the most important thing on a 62!

Neat that you found your car in the Red bluff Corning area, only a stone throw from where I live in Northern Ca. Just wondering what other cars (Oldsmobile's) were in that collection and are any others for sale?....Tedd

That is one of my top 5 favorite Oldsmobiles. What is going on in Sweden? I am seeing a large number of classic cars and parts going there.

62 Starfire is one classy Oldsmobile. I've always loved the lines and details. They were so rare in Canada even back in 62. Gotta keep it original if at all possible. Wish you luck with your dream car.

The tow truck is from my friendīs company in Red Bluff, this car was outside of Redding, in this guyīs collection there is a 61 98 coupe white with turquise top and a 66 or 67 cutlass conv, they might be for sale, I donīt know

Btw we bought a low milage ī69 Skylark conv. in Forest Ranch in 2011, white with black top... Super nice car! Bought it from the original ownerīs daughter.....
Hereīs some pics of it :

This is one of my favorite cars. What color are you going to paint it. My opinion is there is nothing like black for these cars. Good luck with your car.

Well I work as a shop manager at a body shop for Saab, Opel, Chevy and Peugeot so there is many colors too choose from but dark colors does make the chrome shine even moore. On the other hand I donīt think you see too many baby blue Starfires either...

I think Iīll repaint to roof to start with ( It does have some small rust issues ) , might paint it blue...

When you get it home,
start a thread on it. The 62
Starfire is one of the best imop
as well. Gotta love the chrome.

The Skylark vert is a badass too,
very nice. Good luck with 'em.
